Toughest fixed blade you know of

If you just mean a sharpened pry bar, then the British Mod knife would work...

If “indestructible” is the primary criterion, this is the right answer.

I bought one of these in the late 80s, and it has been abused more than any other tool I own. For the last few years it has resided in my wife’s garden tool bucket, and it gets pulled out to chop tree roots, dig holes, and pry rocks from the ground.

It is as “bulletproof” as a knife can be. But it wouldn’t be my first (or tenth) choice if I wanted to perform most of the tasks I normally associate with a a knife.

Nothing wrong with a Ka-Bar, they're field proven.

Anyone looked into this one? The Heartstopper. I'm sure the steel is crap, but that design...

I do like the design but I wouldn't buy it, I couldn't stand "RAMBO" being on the blade and the steel probably IS crap. It usually is in movie replicas.

I can't think of much that couldn't be handled by my SOG S1 bowie. SK-5 will roll some, but doesn't chip, and is easy enough to sharpen. And with a .280" blade thickness, I'm not going to break it by hand. It's tough enough for me.

Cold Steel Drop Forged Hunter and Survival. These are all 52100 steel. Nothing else.

If you had to pick one SHTF knife that you’re absolutely sure won’t fail on you, what would it be? It can chip, roll, or take minor damage but it can’t suffer a catastrophic failure. I’m thinking along the lines of the BK2, ESEE 5, or maybe a Busse.

Gentlemen, choose your poison.

Not my cup of tea, but I note that most of the offered options are pretty pricey.
A Cold Steel SRK with its 3/16" thick saber-ground SK-5 (roughly 1085) blade would be more than adequate and can be obtained for ~$50.

These are my two toughest knives. The top is a Busse Fat Ash, which is a 6.5 inch slab of Infi that is 0.324 inches thick (8.22 mm).

The second is a custom heat treated Nexus in A8(mod), which is a steel very similar to Infi. There's a YouTube of Italians chopping rocks in half with this knife and doing no damage to the edge. It's a 7 inch blade that is 0.282 inches thick (7.18 mm). This is the steel used to make wood-chipper blades. About 58 Rc.

For time being .....my BlackHeart Juggernaut in 3V.....heavy? - Yes! big? - Yes! Overpriced? some may say so.... But, I like it (until something else will catch my attention).
