Toughest Folder in your opinion?.

I know all about dark ops, I was kidding, even if they where tough, they are rip off artists, My friend gave me one hat sits in a drawer that looks EXACTLY like that ER FAIDA up there
I ave a quick question for. VJB.KNIFE about the ER, It looks great, but it's what dork-ops copied for the strato fighter stilleto. I Just was to know if it's Sharp, because the blade on the Strato is way to thick to even come close to being sharp and it's mint. kinda like a MOD razorback, some knives are tough and the baldes are thick but the edge is too ^ to be of much use. Just wondering if that ER is sharp. Thats why I like Strider folders, and Spyderco Manix and Chinook, Tough but not sacrificing any cutting ability, Probably because knives like that are flat ground, and still have a real thick spine.

You are right the blade on the Faida is very thick but the main edge is pretty darn sharp. The point is not the razor like but I am sure it could puncture just about anything.

On the other knife I think that the Strider SMF is every bit as tough and a lot sharper along the entire blade and it is more practical for most situations as well.

You can't go wrong with a Strider SMF. Kershaw ZT0300 also seems like it would fit your needs.

Ive got a 301.
My ideal folder would be a folder thats all titanium from thick heavy liners to screws etc and a steel like cpm3v idealy coated althouygh ive never seen this steel used in a folder and id prefer a thick frame lock that locks like a vault with perfect FF and tolerance levels and either G10 or micarta for grip.
Ive never seen a knife like that awake anyway and if i do im buying one.

My Fulcrum II cut and sliced like a much thinner blade and did just fine and even surprised me at how well you could do things like whittle with it. Its all in how you profile it I guess. Mine was redone to a convex edge by Mike Stewart before I got it and then later beveled conventionally over that reprofiled edge.

Still the lock and the strength and toughness are what the man asked about and thats the number one for those areas that I have personally tested.

The SnG by Strider is a fine folder but the blade would break on the SnG long before the Fulcrum's would and the Fulcrum's blade steel seemed lots tougher to me and less prone by far to edge chipping. At one point in my tests I actually stood on the Fulcrum II locked open with the blade clamped in place and bounced a little with all 220 pounds of me. Didn't even phase it. Not many folding knives could successfully be used as a leg up in a pinch. When they tell you at ER that its a fixed folder they really mean it.

By the way, the Dark Ops folders are copies of the ER knives not the other way around in case anyone was wondering. There is no alliance between the two companies. I wrote them and asked during another thread on the Dark Ops StratoFighter folder.

STR

Surefire Delta is pretty tough. Huge pivot pin, Titanium frame (w/frame stop) and S30V and its made in the USA.
