Toughest knife?

IMG_5117.jpg

My Winkler belt knife is my hard use knife.

I too, would like a CCW for a fragmentation grenade. :p

Toughest fixed blade: My Microtech Currahee... Thing is like a quarter inch thick D2 steel... very durable, very hard.

Toughest folder I have: XM-18... have 2 and they're both like tanks.

i would have to say the toughest blades i have are my scrapyard dmdc and the sod
but i have never used the sod and it just takes up space
it is a tank though

Hi,
If it was released, being a Spydie fan, I would answer the TUFF.A tough Edc folder choice would be the Three Sisters Forge "BEAST," an EDC in My rotation which is light for what it is, relatively cheap for a custom, and Well Fit, super Quality, tight tolerances defineately heavy use. I am not an expert on fixed blades, but I'm sure I would have to choose My Dave Loukides Stag handled camp knife. That is My humble opinion! You know what they say about those!!! LOL
Thanks,
Charlie

Great setup! Can you confirm if that is the compact Sayoc in the background? I would like to confirm the actual length, as I am trying to decide between this and full size. I like the efficiency of the shorter version when carrying, but I feel like the longer handle would provide more options (i.e. moving up on the grip in a close quarter scenario and down when you want more leverage?) Thanks.

The toughest knife I'm aware of is the Himalayan Imports Chiruwa Ang Khola. Full tang, full width of the handle, its spine is 1/2 inch thick for most of its length. Made of differentially tempered 5160 steel with a mean convex grind. The whole thing is 16-18 inches long, and weighs around 2 lbs!

Also, it is covered under warranty for use as a prybar. Break one, and you get another free (mostly because they don't want to cross anyone who could break one ;) )

My 1095 knife was hand made by Russell Nickerson,he has a small knife shop where he makes all of his knives out of either 1095 or 52100.The 1095 is made to work, lower hardness but it is right there with anything out there today for edge holding.I had some free time so i got some hands on training and we made the knife together. One of my favorites ,since Russell has had 2 heart attacks and rarely makes any knives now.
Does Russell still make knives?

Y'all do realize this thread is 9 years old, and the OP hasn't been here in the last 4 years, right?

EDIT: Repaired typo.

Hey guys. What do you think is the toughest, most durable knife that you know of? I live in like super thick woods. I don't want a machete. But I want to be able to cut thorns bushes and clean game with it. So what do you guys think is the toughest knife?

Cutting thorn bushes and cleaning game are two different knives, IMO.

For cutting thorn bushes, either a pruning shears or a machete (they're cheap, and double as a home defense weapon) and for cleaning game, you want a 3-4" drop point blade, like a Buck Selkirk.

You don't want to try to be clearing thorn bushes with a shorter bladed knife that's good for game cleaning, and you don't want to be cleaning game with a longer blade that is good for clearing thorn bushes.

A machete is super cheap anyway, around $25. You can afford that AND a nice little hunting knife.

Not sure what your budget is... I also think toughest is subjective, however check out Miller Bros Blades, they post on IG and FB, as well as have a "toughness" test on youtube. Their folders are also likely tougher than most, but pricy. Check Arizona Custom Knives site, although at a mark-up.
