Tour de France

Tony, I've got to say I disagree as well. You're absolutely right that a shift that drastic in his specialities wouldn't make any sense under ordinary circumstances. They weren't ordinary circumstances. He basically got to rebuild his body from the ground up, and he did it with the knowledge of someone who had been in professional cycling for years and knew what to aim for. I don't doubt him.

Heres a little prayer sample B turns out clean. Hey these things called drug tests seem to catch players who dope huh?

the french just cannot accept an american winning, if this 1st test is supposedly positive, i'd hope the 'b' sample is tested elsewhere.

Not practical. Your urine is already well known in the international community.
They have a test for it, you know.

Second test is in, and Landis is dirty. He landis in hot water.

Sort of a 'thunk' sound to the end of the American domination of the event.

I'm just sorry all the way around.
He still maintains his innocence. The New York Times has already leaked news that a forriegn steriod was found- synthetic, not his, something.

I am still holding out a small hope that by some miracle, Landis is able to come up with an explanation which refutes the doping charge - maybe it's naive, but I am just not ready to give up on him yet.

I'm pretty much a sucker and believe a guy when he says he's innocent. If they hadn't found "synthetic" testosterone I probably would have believed him. I don't know how he can explain that, unless he claims that somebody set him up, which is possible, but less likely.

Its odd to me that they have rules that ban high testosterone levels on male athletes without any other evidence of doping. Isn't that one probably one of the traits that makes a guy have a big motor anyways? I mean, elite athletes aren't physically like me, they've got bigger and stronger muscles and more lung capacity and quicker reflexes. Why wouldn't their bodies produce more or different levels of "whatever" (testosterone, red blood cells, blood oxygen, etc.)

That's like saying to Shaq, you know, most people aren't 7 feet tall, so we aren't going to let you play basketball. As Andre the Giant said in the Princess Bride "Its not my fault I'm bigger and stronger than eveybody else"

from the article, I imagine that is correct about athletes, but that 4:1 is the human outside limit of testosterone and the american tested 11:1, I believe.
I apologize beforehand if I've got the numbers screwed up.

...uh; great, now there's a video clip out with him denying everything...Landis is liable to end up only slightly more innocent than OJ.

I remember hearing that some rare ppl have as high as 10:1. The synthetic stuff is the really depressing bit.
