TRACKROCK Spring 2018

Have fun, guys!
I’ll second the request for pictures of Fiddlebacks and Others in the same family.

I hope everyone made it home safe and sound. I'd like to thank everyone for a good time.

Here's a few pictures. Sorry I don't have any cobbler pictures. I can show you the empty dutch ovens?

I got all muk'd up this weekend. That's a Cohutta on top and a Fleming below it.

Here's my little camping rig and the required foodie pictures.

Can’t think of a better way to escape the snowfall in Illinois this past weekend. Some pics for the bf community:

Robert from @Fiddleback Outpost was gracious enough to use his wizard-like knot skills and equip my mango runt with a fiddleback bullseye bead - thanks again Robert and Phillip. It looks outstanding!

One of the rare times Andy didn’t have a crowd around him at the grinder.

Catered lunch

“Iron in the Hat” drawing directly after lunch included a knife give away drawing and many knifemaking materials. The younger ‘newbies’ scored big time at this event. Many knives on display from various makers as well.

Worked with two outstanding individuals (Justen and Eric), who shared their equip and expertise to make a sheath for my new box lunch chef knife by @kmellino. This project gave me a whole new appreciation for stitching 3 thick pieces of leather together by hand. My fingers are still sore. This took much longer than I anticipated. Thanks again Southern Gent Southern Gent !

Final product - first sheath!

Great to meet makers, collectors, and hobbyists over the weekend. Thanks again Luca917 Luca917 for saving me on Sat morn. I was like a lost child wandering around Trackrock with my empty holiday inn cup in search of coffee. Finding your campsite/coffee made my day so much better. Rick Lowe Rick Lowe I’ll be in contact about that pattern you drew up. And for those that don’tknow @crex - he is a class act. Thank you crex for heading up an event that is important in so many ways.

Great job on that sheath!

Great weekend with great people! I really do plan my entire year around this event.

Credit for first pic goes to Colby T. (my son's best friend and our guest this weekend - and man did he have a great time!).

Awesome pics and looks like an awesome weekend! Man I need to try and make one of these soon, especially since I'm only a couple hours away.

If you don't mind me asking, what model Cohutta was the smaller Ironwood one (I believe it's Ironwood but not sure)?
Thanks

Awesome pictures Tony! Prior commitments meant it wasn't to be for me and the kids this weekend but both really wanted to come and we are already talking about next Fall. Fingers crossed, and getting to view other's good times takes the sting out a little bit. Thanks for sharing.

It’s the Toccoa and I can’t believe I let Tony walk away with it. I did snag a great osage Patch from Russell though.

Really great to do a Track Rock weekend again after missing the last one! Super venue, people and knives all around. Spent the time catching up with old friends and meeting new ones, too.
Tony, you didn't point out the knives that you, Luca, Keegan and Colby forged.

What a time the Trackrock weekend is. There is just so much social time with the friends we develop here. It was great seeing Rick back again. Jazz, your pics really told the story. I always get so busy I forget to take pics.

One thing the pics don't show is how many kids there are there. The look on their face when you hand them the ground knife is priceless!

Much thanks to JusTEN as well for the roof and the kinship.

Another amazing Trackrock weekend in the books. Each one a little different, but equally enjoyable and rewarding. Had a great time getting to catch up with those folks I only get to see from time to time and to have the opportunity to meet and make some new friends as well. I also have a deeper respect for the gentlemen manning the forges passing on their knowledge and Andy at the grinder putting all those smiles on the kids faces as they see their "forgery" come to life. Spending the majority of my Saturday working leather for the kiddos and a serviceman was not only fun, but very rewarding. Thanks to Andy and Russell as well for showing me the ropes on the grinder so that I wouldn't lose a finger on the 36 grit belt! Andy and Robert, really enjoyed the downtime over at the farm and thanks to you again Robert for such an amazing gift! Great fellowship, great food, great times! Jason jaz322 jaz322 I had a blast getting to know you and help you get your sheath designed and done before the end of the weekend. I hope to see you again at Blade in June.
