Trade Knives?

Okay, I don't know if it's me, but I have noticed generally that

A) I tend to ship knives first, trusting in the other person to ship at the same time as agreed via email or PM.

B) My knife or knives arrive at the other person's house/mailing address (not P.O. Box).

C) 3-4 days later the knife I traded for arrives.

????

There is absolutely no warning, communication, etc.

I have also noticed I tend to pack my knives quite a bit better... or should I say adequately?

I can understand being wary of people because there ARE cheats and liars and thieves here, as there are everywhere, but that's what the GB&U forums as well as iTrader (among other feedback systems) ARE FOR - to expose and warn. I like to think I have been always honest and prompt in my dealings with everyone with very few exceptions (mostly dealing with my horrible work and school schedule).

Edit: Perhaps I should mention it isn't just 3-4 days, that was mostly a wild approximation.
I should say that the knives are shipped AFTER my knives have already arrived.

Now this isn't common by any means, but I think honesty in communication and such is one of the utmost priorities since that is basically HOW we define WHO we are on the web.

Maybe things are different where you are but a couple of days late is not unheard of here, and I personally have never minded if an individual is a day or so later than I am. At least 3-4 days later you get the knives (not like a maker who has taken my money and stopped correspondence).

I agree about the packaging. The shipping times vary, even within your state. I sent a Buck 110 to New York and it arrived three days later, while the Spyderco Delica that I sent to Columbus (same state as me, Ohio) took eight days to arrive. My package to cutlerylover (in Pennsylvania) arrived in two days, but my package to Donna V (same city as me) took four days. Weird.
I once got a package from Canada that was sent (and postmarked) five months earlier, while mine only took a week and a half to get there.

I always ask who will ship first, and any complications (I sometimes can't ship until pay day, and I mention this at the very beginning of the trade) that might come up are mentioned. Where I receive mail, I have to authorize delivery, so I need to know when the package will arrive. This comes up as well, and while I can see how this could be construed as wanting proof of shipping and therefore being untrustworthy, it's nothing to do with trust. I try to cover everything, and I guess that's all I can do. Keep up your good work, seno
