I am posting a WTT thread: Spyderco Techno for Benchmade 586 Mini Barrage. I am looking for a sub 3" knife with safety.
I bought this Techno from a forum member late last year (2014). The knife is sharpened by previous owner and sold as lightly used to me. The knife is used, but very clean. I carried it around the house and used to open mails, package, and tapes occasionally. I EDC 940BK (around the house) and 555HG (outside) for most EDC use, Techno gets the least amount of the pocket time.
Blade grind is clean except changes of grind angle is noticeable toward the ricasso, which is symmetric (see pics please). The blade has not been touched by me since I received the knife. Lock up is crisp and solid; smooth to open and with zero blade play. Blade is Carpenter's XHP (CTS-XHP), not S30V in current Techno models. XHP is a grade above S30V in my opinion.
No other issues I can think of. Previous owner shipped the knife with another Spyderco box, which I kept and will ship the knife in the box.
This is one awesome metal mouse. Blade design is pure utilitarian, fits to my hand like a glove, and easy to carry. It is easily one of the best fit and finish knife among all Spyderco models, in my opionion. Mr. Slysz is genius.
I decided to place it for trade because I need a sub 3" blade with safety. Yup, I am looking for a knife with safety lock. I am around little children a lot of time; a pocket knife dropping out of my pocket made some people uneasy; I decided to resolve the concerns by getting a knife with safety lock. I was looking at 586 barrage or 470 emissary. I'm leaning on to 586 since it can be deassisted if necessary.
