Looks like the perfect summer day!!

Classic Soviet/Russian folding knife, meant either as a hunter's helper or just a daily pocket knife, called Squirrel (rus. Белка, pronounced Belka). Black plastic covers, U8 (or U8A) tool steel. Was made around the last quarter of 20th century by the Production Plant of Moscow Society of Hunters and Fishermen (rus. abbr. ПК МООиР, pronounced PK MO-OiR). I only resharpened it to a smaller angle, otherwise it is like new. Spring is pretty hard (like on a modern Douk-Douks, or simple all-steel Rodgers jacks made by Egginton) so only real option is a pinch opening. Plastic covers are not very strong, so I wouldn't recommend to drop it flat too much. Decent traditional knife I would say, slim, long blade, mostly good fit and finish for the time (at least on mine, though it can vary to be honest), and I personally do like a hard spring in a slipjoint construction as long as the blade is pinchable.

The other knife is a modern remake. AUS-10 steel, covers advertised as either Nylon or ABS in different places (though they feel like pure ABS, which is sad). Also made in Russia, which is especially appreciated, because there isn't much traditional folding knives (or any folding knives) manufacturers nowadays. It is a copy of another variation of a corresponding Soviet knife, though only difference from the Squirrel was a panther on the covers, pretty much similar to the one on the remake. Overall quality is above the average, I would say, though some small details might have been done better, like polishing the tang and the inside of the spring, a tad less sloppy plastic molds, better walk and talk, etc. etc. You can see that the handle is very thick, almost 3 times thicker than the original, and it doesn't feel comfortable to be honest. Though it has a hidden pin near the end for the lanyard. Overall, can't say I absolutely don't like it, but prefer the original much more (despite the weird clip blade).

And yes, animals are portrayed in a pretty specific way, especially the squirrel. But that's to fit the handle profile and fill the whole cover, I suppose.

Edit: I might try to take a better pics of the covers by messing with lighting, but current ones are pretty much the best I can get out of my phone camera.

Edit 2: here it is.
