True, no one knows for sure what knife was used on the sandbar, but there is documentation and family history on the the earliest Bowies and of the knife makers they could have used, as well as record of what large knives at the time looked like.

Enough evidence to confidently say the standard knife was one of the 3 in tltt's post.

It was the top one, the Forrest knife, though.
