I really like that knife Harvey. Perhaps it's simply too much of a good thing, but I much prefer the older Opinels and their markings over the contemporary offerings.

For waynorth and everyone else with laguioles from different makers, which is your favorite maker for a using knife? As I gain more familiarity with the pattern, I'm learning that although they look largely alike, there is great variability in handle thickness and how they feel in hand.

Can anyone post a comparison photo of an 8cm Laguiole open next to something I know such as a Wenger SI, a Douk-Douk, or maybe a GEC 15. TIA

I don't have an 8cm Laguiole, but I do have a 7cm one. It's basically a French version of a Peanut. Not sure if that's too small for you, but it is a really nice little knife!
