I have cut down on fixed blade carry, mostly because I wear a suit to work. I used to carry fixed blades almost daily. I'm in a position now, where I get to work, and put the handful of knives I brought on and in my desk.
Because I go into secure facilities daily (court and jail).
I would Carey and use both of those lovlies.
Here is what I carried today.(Minus a non traditional that shall remain in the dark).
I do carry a small stout fixed blade from Ben Tendrick, that has a jute wrapped handle. I need to make a more pocket friendly sheath for it. But when I'm not in dress clothes I sometimes put it on my belt.
Not sure I have a pic of it with my traditional knives though.
Very Generous GAW Tom. Happy Birthday coming up!!!
I'm in. That is some really good steel on that City Knife. That combo with a Pioneer is about all you need city or woods!
Wow Tom this is quite the GAW! Thanks for being so generous. Happy Birthday and congratulations on your 2000 posts. I always enjoy your photos.
Western L36 A favorite because it's easy to keep very sharp, is a good size for all around use and it has served me well as my only fixed blade from 1973 thru 2013.
Victorinox Huntsman A favorite because it's tool selection gives it amazing versatility in a small package.
The two paired together go a long way in meeting ones outdoor needs.
Wow Tom! Thank you for a very generous GAW. I am in! I normally don't carry a fixed blade, maybe I just don't have the right one yet My favorite EDC pattern is the Scout 73 single blade. The main reason I like this knife so much is the fact that you have that big cutting edge in such a thin pocket friendly folder. Happy Holiday wishes and early Happy Birthday.
Wow so very generous! Congrats! I am in!
This duo handles pretty much any task I come across that a knife should be used for. A GEC 72 Cody Jack and a fixed blade forged by someone here on the forum. I regroup the fixed blade to a full flat grind and while the stock is .250", it tapers down to a very thin edge. Forged from an old leaf spring, it is an excellent, tough 3 finger fixed blade.
Thank you, Tom, a most generous giveaway, and as I don't have either of the prizes . . . I'M IN!
I have many favorites, but this is the combo I carried for a week of deer hunting just the last couple of weeks.
CPM-M4 drop point by Stuart Davenport and a blue Farmer. Both were very effective.
Awesome Gaw! I figured this would involve a city knife.
Here is my favorite pair at the moment.
JK Toby's knife and the forum knife.
The JK is my only custom and it's the only fixed blade I own small enough for every day carry.
And well, the forum knife is my newest, so of course it's my favorite slip joint.
What an awesome way to celebrate your birthday through generosity. May you have many many more birthdays and I wish you the best on yours the 22nd.
I'm In! [emoji106]
I don't own a fixed, as I'm mainly a city dweller; but if I did, the one you're offering would be a solid choice. I will only be able to post a pocket knife; however, it is a favorite - Northwoods Fremont in Elephant Ivory
Fantastic duo! I'm in and thank you for the opportunity.
My favorite duo at this moment is my BRKT Essential and my Northfield Pemberton. Small fixed blades like this one have kicked a few of my folders back to the drawer the Essential just feels right in hand. I carry it with my Pemberton in case I'm around people that are put off by knives.
I'm not a paying member, not sure if that excludes me or not.
But man if I'm in.....I am in!
I really only carry a fixy when putting around the house or in a the woods. And my go to is the izula ii or buck 192. And I always have a slippy in the lfp. Typically a GEC 15, 66 or case 62032.
Count me in! Thanks for a chance at a great pair of knives. I don't EDC a fixed and folder. None of my current fixed blades are small enough to carry daily. When hunting or walking the woods these two get the call most often. I've had the Buck 105 since the late 80's and it has skinned and processed many a deer and turkey. Just about perfect blade size and shape. The large Case jack knife if perfect for anything else.
