Traditional Give Away Pair - winner selected post 115

Wow, what a generous GAW.

I have to admit I am jealous that you can EDC a fixed blade. People in my office would freak even if I pulled a small fixed blade out of my pocket.

Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates it and Happy Holidays to those that don't.

Stellar GAW! I'd love to take a shot at this duo thank you.

My usual combo would be a basic puukko mated to a GEC, usually a 73 or 15 for compact carry.

Sometimes it can be a very small puukko and very small GEC25...:D

I am in, thanks!

Here is my favorite combo: a northwoods canoe and a hunter that a blacksmith friend of mine made out of an old file.

I love the canoe because it has one thin blade for slicing and a thinker blade for tougher cutting. The fixed blade is the perfect length for working outside- big enough to get everything done without being bulky to carry. It is carbon steel tempered down for extra toughness- it is one durable blade!

My favorite fixed and folding duo is the Gossman 4" Kephart with A2 blade and cocobolo scales and my Case Bose Tribal Spear in ebony scales.

Thanks for the chance!

Great GAW thread, and happy birthday. If by whatever slim chance I win I will also give away a folder and fixed blade combo. Tis the season!

My favorite combo right now would have to be a #33 Conductor and the H20 Hunter. Both very small and simple knives but they excel at small and simple tasks.

Can't post photos right now will edit and post one tomorrow but I'm in. My favorite combo was my Buck 119 and swiss champ. But after I received my neck knife CharlieMike.made for me it will replace the Buck. Never knew how much I would enjoy a neck knife.

Congratulations on 2K posts, Tom, and I hope you have a very enjoyable birthday next week!:thumbup: (We December birthday guys gotta stick together. ;))

Thanks for your very generous GAW! I think it's very cool that you're having a GAW that's so similar to the daily carry photos I've come to look forward to from you!:cool:

But this is NOT an entry! I have vowed to stay away from fixed blades, and even this generous GAW will NOT tempt me over to the Dark Side!! :D

Even though I'm not in, if I may, I'll still "play" by sharing that my current favorite is the canoe pattern. Someday I'd like to start a thread that gets at why we all are attracted to whatever it is we're attracted to, but I'll just say I enjoy the symmetry of the canoe, the absence of sharp tang corners in my pocket, the 2 blade sizes, and the do-it-all spearpoint, my favorite blade shape. Here are some of my current favorite examples:

Good luck, everyone!! :)

Very generous GAW!! Please count me in. My favorite little fixed blade is my Fiddleback Forge Runt that I got at the same time as I adopted my littlest daughter. It's functional and sentimental!

And the little traditional I pair with it each day is this little Al Mar Osprey:

Congrats Tom!!! I've always liked your pairing with the City Knife. Please count me in and I will try and stop back and edit my post with a picture:cool::thumbup:

I'm in. What a wonderfully generous offer. I have looked longingly at Bark River knives, but always felt them a little above my pay grade.

When I carry a fixed blade, it is always in a pocket. This mora 612 often gets the call:

For may years, though, it was this small Anza bought from the maker at a motorcycle swap meet:

Wow, a pair of awesome knives! I'm in, thank you so much!

Not necessarily my absolute favourites but my go to pair when actual cutting is expected:

Many Happy Returns for the 22nd! And thanks for the very generous GAW I'm IN!!!

Very generous, Tom! Please count me in.

I don't carry both at the same time, so let me show you a personal favorite: a GEC 55 Dogleg Jack. Wharnecliff goodness in a curved package.

I AM IN!!! What an amazing opportunity! Thanks so much!

Pocket dump. The fixed blade is Tapio Wirkkala's puukko design from the 1970s, made by Hackmann in Finland. I've been carrying it lately out of nostalgia--it was my constant companion through the 80s and 90s including trips to Israel, Europe, Canada, and Alaska. The Buck 301 is also a nostalgia piece as it was my brother's constant carry in the 70s and 80s. He used to forget to take it out of his pocket and it was run through the laundry regularly. It's a Camillus-made Buck, I'm told, and while there are a couple of tiny cracks in the Delrin scales, it's still a much a tank as it always was.

Great GAW, and I'd love a chance at it. I'm in.

My favourite small fixed is another Bark River, the PSK in a Pocono pocket sheath. Usually paired with a Northwoods Indian River Jack where the flashlight is supposed to go.

I've longingly stared at the City Knife, and even had one in my cart a couple times but never pulled the trigger.

Also, I have a few Cadets, but have never had a Pioneer.

Congratulations on the milestone and happy birthday :)

Awesome giveaway, I'm in.

We share the same birthday so it would really be cool to win a couple new blades on mine. :D

I would have to say that my favorite pattern is a serpentine whittler. And my current favorite is the Gringling in stag.
