Traditional Knives Outside the USA - Show Your Non-American Traditional Knives.

Wow! What an awesome thread.... really loved seeing all of these European knives.. especially the English, which I never see very much of.

Seems several countries have used this design. This one was made in Italy and issued to their Navy.

Can you tell us the maker of this one please? Incredible how widespread that pattern was

Jack - I mistakenly identified it as a Dutch army knife. It is actually a Belgian navy knife. It is stamped Friedrichswerk Solingen. Jerry (Galeocerdoshark) sent it to me.

Thank you very much for the reply :) I have not seen any Dutch knives in that style. Very interesting information. A nice knife and a generous gift from Jerry

This thread is both interesting, and timely for me. Other than a couple of Bokers, from Germany, I never owned or paid much attention to the non USA traditional knives. I do have an IXL Wostenholm, from England, heading my way. I'm anxious to get it and see if I like it, or not. Hopefully it becomes a new favorite.

Great idea for a thread Brett.

I was thinking in the weekend to make a Traditional German Knife thread- then saw this. Well done and boy are there some beauties in here.
Must get some photos in here when I get home 👍

My trusty Svord Peasant knife. Carried it for about 6 months off and on. Finally stopped carrying it as the tang would damage the seams of my pants pockets over time, and I had nightmares about putting my hand in my pocket and slicing my hand on the partially opened blade.

France

There are many like them, but these ones are mine. The Opinel needs no introduction. This little Number 7 was my sole EDC for about three years. The No. 10 is usually designated camp cooking knife, when outdoors.

A couple of puukkot (Roselli Grandmother, Ahti Korpi), and a Woodsknife Tuplaleuku.

Kappetijn King Henry Hunter, and Serengeti Hunter.

Two patterns of knives originally associated with fishing and boat use. The Funayuki-bocho, or 'Take It On the Boat-Knife', is a Shigeharu from Kyoto, the left handed Deba was made by Kenichi Shiraki-san in Sakai.

Here's a 15 1/2" OAL machete (maybe there's a better name for it?) that my dad brought back from the Philippines after WW2. It's been used and looks like he or someone took it to a grinder, but it's a treasure to me. He had two of them. I got one, my brother the other. There was a butterfly knife that he brought back also. I'm not sure who ended up with that, but it wasn't me.
