Even though I voted Scout (as usual) as I'll be carrying one more than usual in August because of Scout trips, I gotta admit to being in a congress mood lately.

Sodbuster is cool, but that means I'll just have to get some more as I only have two. Another like for the Case carbon fiber too.

Yes this many options dilutes the votes a good bit, but I think we could get a definite winner from it. If not then we can get a top three group we could hold another poll and make it more final.
This being said, I'm open to more ideas on how to better hold this selection process.

For reference my original plan was to hold a poll choosing pen or jack, then putting up the selection of patterns that followed that criteria in a second poll, this would require a minimum of 2 weeks to allow everyone to vote and for people to have equal opportunity at both polls. Then people who are set on buying the new knife have to find, and purchase one. Which could add another week so, I suppose if you want to get the selection process done almost as soon as the new one starts we could follow through this way but this forum would be overrun with so many polls the mods would have a fit.

By breaking down to pen or jack BTW we'd cut the options to say 10-15 apiece.

I say leave the poll as-is, and remove the winner each month till we get down to the last one, then do it all again. It will get boring if the TOTM repeats itself too often.


Some lone guy (gal?) wants their Swing-Gaurd to be TOTM real bad, and if you follow my advice, eventually it will be. Think how happy that person will be :D
 
I'm still rooting for a trapper month. It's a great pattern that can sometimes be neglected.

Also I gave away my only sodbuster months ago :disturbed:

That's how it is atm, if you've noticed the peanut, barlow and stockman aren't in the list. However if we do go through the entire list, that means we won't hit the peanut again for another year and half. That's a pretty darn long wait time for a cult classic. Maybe after 10 TOTM's we can re-introduce them, or maybe a random month can be the not-so-popular knives, like a saddlehorn, Dr's knife, hell who wants to try EDC'ing a tuxedo?

Come on Soddie...Jacks cant win untill the forum knife shows up and as for trappers. I really dont "need" to buy another knife. The only barlow I wanted is not for sale anywhere.
 
Interesting. Looks like it may be time for my first Sodbuster. Been eyeing a Case for a while already.
 
I voted Whittler, as it's one of my favorite patterns, but I'd be equally happy with the Trapper or Soddy.
 
I voted sowbelly 'cause I have a special one (to me anyway) that I would like to carry... But, it looks like the trapper or sodbuster is going to take next month's poll (August that is). I have some trappers, and 3 sodbusters, so I'll be able to play if it goes that way. I'm carrying my Boker brown grand canyon bone Barlow tomorrow for this month's (July) carry.

Sure is!

With the Trapper coming in second each of the last two months (28 and 24 votes, respectively), what about proclaiming September Trapper Month...?

I have no knife in this fight (heh) as I don't prefer Trappers, so it's just an idea.

On the other hand, it might be fun to watch the Trapper continue to come in 2nd. ;)
