Traditional of the Month: Barlow

Man, there's been some terrific Barlows coming in at the end of the month! Wow!

ISKski, that's a beautiful 22nd century antique!!:D Just a great looking knife:thumbup:!

Way to close out Barlow month, ISKski! The spalted maple is fantastic. In fact, I really like everything about the knife overall. Congrats.

ETA: Thanks for posting your Barlow collection, Charlie. It's neat to see all the different logos stamped on the bolsters. I also got a chuckle out of the OVB that Matt scratched his name on.:D What brand is the one with the Z on it?

I haven't posted much in this thread, but I have been lurking, and will miss it, as it winds down today - the last day of the month!!
A big group showing off various bolster logos. The Henckles is very well made!

Great pictures of great knives! I wonder if "Matt" knows where his knife ended up...? (Second knife down on the left.)

I'm still thinking and wondering about the jigging and dye on this barlow of yours, although I didn't realize it hadn't made it to this thread until I looked for it again just now:
I have this redbone, which looks like it has old time jigging.
Does anyone know more about it?? I'd like to see more of this jigging from GEC.
It has the wide pen spring, but it's not too bad too open.

This arrived yesterday, but I was saving it for today to post here.

Oh my golly, that's beautiful. I hope you continue to post pictures of it elsewhere.

ps
jealous :D

Well, the knife does appear to have your name on it! Hmmmmmm.

I'll keep returning to this thread if only to see this picture:

(And for a glimpse of Lutejones's blue Boker, and for the new ones that showed up during the course of the month, and for the grand old ones that were revealed here at the end, and for so many other great pictures and stories.)

Nah, I'm not nearly done with "Barlow Month." ;)

Thanks, everyone!

~ P.

you didnt need to point out that it DID have my name on it
as my southern wife would say, wow, that makes my heart hurt a little (still jealous :D)

Great thread P!!
This thread will never end; Barlows will always return!!

Danny, I thought it was a Z also when I first saw it, but it is an N, for New York Knife Co.!! They must not have made a lot of Barlows; I think I've only seen three in my lifetime.

Awesome as always Charlie... But I love that "KA-BAR-LO" That's just
lovely... Not an easy KA-BAR to find. Thanks for sharing.

Jason

Thanks, Charlie. I would have never guessed NYKC. Nice find!

Oh Boy!..lets keep this one going!

RECOMMENDED!... This should be title change by the op-( with mods nods ) and keep this thread going strong.

Its funny...when I was first hooked ( well and truly) into Traditionals, I didnt pay much heed to Barlows....and ..although not recently my taste is changing, and I feel its getting older as I get older...does this sound strange?...but anyway to me the Barlow is a lovely knife, and STILL to this day Charlie staggers me as I never knew he had such a phenomenal collection of stunning old Barlows.
