Good luck on your hunt.Rainy day here, getting all my deer hunting gear together and checked out for Monday morning. Loaded the truck during a break in the rain. Made some blueberry pancakes with bacon for breakfast. Carried my HSB Junior Cattle Knife today, its biggest chore (besides slicing open the bacon), was cutting away the Masonite "fluff" from sinking some hollow door anchors. Decided my 30-06 SPRG needed to go hunting this season, been since 2016 since this one has killed a deer. OH
Thank you! Hopefully soon have some fresh venison for the cast iron. OHGood luck on your hunt.

Put it in your self cleaning oven and run it through a cycle...... Afterwards, wash and re-season it...I need some advice and help with this lodge Dutch Oven. It was my mother in laws and is now mine. She said it was her great grandmother's which would put it well over 100 years old. Not sure how accurate that is though.
A couple months ago she used it and let water in it in the sink because she did not have energy or strength to clean it and would not ask for help with it.
As can be seen, it is peeling. I wanted to restore it for use but am uncertain the best method. Part of my says flapper wheel on drill and start over.
Any thoughts, suggestions or ideas are greatly appreciated

Yep. We've done that with a couple that we found at flea markets. Works great.Put it in your self cleaning oven and run it through a cycle...... Afterwards, wash and re-season it...
U can do the oven self cleaning method, but it can cause heat damage. Same with grinding it if it's truly 100 + years old that's no what u want to do. I suggest the easyoff method. Buy a yellow can of oven cleaner spray it down and put it in a black garbage bag in direct sunlight for 24 hours wash and reseason. U can also use vinegar or molasses but easy off is the easiest.I need some advice and help with this lodge Dutch Oven. It was my mother in laws and is now mine.
