Traditionals and Cast Iron Cookware

Thanks Willie!! :)
That one is a Russell, green river works blade and some curly maple that I picked up at the Oregon show a few years back.
Had enough for 3 different knives.

Anyone seen the new Blacklock series from lodge ?
The prices are 2×-3× as much on the skillets , but they're supposed to be smoother / nicer and lighter weight.
I'm a bit interested considering it's still a lot less than the fancy premium brands that have popped up in the past few years, not sure I wouldn't just rather smooth out a standard lodge but they sound good on paper.

Can't say as I have personally, but a lighter lodge pan does sound intriguing... I've always been happy with their products as is though.

They're lighter, but from what I've heard they're no smoother than the regular Lodge offerings.

If I was in the market for a new skillet I'd just fork over the money for a Field. They're beautiful. I know they're pricier than the antiques that inspired them originally sold for, but so are GECs in comparison to old Remingtons.

From what I've seen they are smoother, still not perfectly smooth but smoother than standard lodge.

I haven't had any problems with my standard lodge, but if I did my personal choice would be to just smooth out some standard lodge.
That's robably because lodge was my first cast iron and it's what I'm used to.

I have one older pot and 2 Dutch ovens that do not have a makers mark but just the size in the casting.
They are all 8" castings, the pot has 3" sides....

I also have another pot exactly like this one except it doesn't even have a size on it.

Familiar with Lodge as its readily available, get emails from Field but have never seen a piece in person and never heard of Stargazer (until just now). I like to handle something before I buy but I may just order a stovetop Dutch Oven from the new Lodge line. My only Dutch oven has feet for use in a campfire. Sure enjoy seeing all these new photos Dave, Big fatty, and Duane. I was thinking of making pancakes for breakfast when I went to bed - now its going to be a sure thing! OH
