Trail Master Is In The House

Don't want to talk politics here, but Taiwan is part of China, any educated person should know this.

an entire generation grew up thinking that the CS TM was the ultimate production bowie.
and you know what?...they were probably right!
years on, and the TM has become a legend.albeit a change in materials and outsourced manufacturer.
very few models get to be in production this long.

-an incidental side note: the good boy in the red hat pictured in the Christmas tree, Norm Peterson, is getting "cut" today. i hope you enjoyed the riches that were your jewels while you had them, Norm. i salute you.

Tell Norm Peterson all is not lost. When he dies and goes to Heaven, God will give him his nuts back so he can enjoy eternity in Heaven with the girls.:)

That Trail Master is a great knife. I have the Recon Scout version (7½ blade) with Carbon 5 steel. It's a great knife. Enjopy your new knife.

One of the original 'heavy weights' of the current trend of loppers and choppers. Great design that has stood the test of time. Enjoy.

My old USA/Carbon V with custom blue mic. handle and bead blast.

Congrats on the great new knife. I have always loved these and have acquired five of them over the years and one of their little brothers. Enjoy making big things into little things.:D

Those who beat their swords into plowshares usually end up plowing for those who don't.

took a break from the games (but not the sweats) to bust up the Christmas tree in the wild lands behind our ranch (alley behind the apt :D).
definitely not Ankerson quality chop vid but, hey, it's 20 degrees outside and i have more chillin' to do...

fun time cleaning off lower branches and lopping the top off the tree, too. bites really deep and the edge remains perfect. i love this thing.

:D

Congrats man. What are the criticisms about Cold Steel? (sorry i'm new to the forum) I have the Trail master, and I love it. Whenever I go winter backpacking in near zero temps and snow/moisture everywhere, it's the only way I'm able to get a fire going. Additionally, it saved my butt once, when it went down around -5 degrees once. I don't take it year round, but in the winter it's a must!

The Trailmaster is definitely the best thing LT ever did. It is surpassed in terms of sheer fun factor by only one other knife in the CS catalogue - the almighty Natchez bowie.

There's a guy on coldsteels forums called 'picksmith' - i think - who put an awesome black micarta handle on a Laredo bowie and i'm sure he could/would do a Trailmaster.
All the photo's I've seen of his work speak of outstanding work, perfect F&F.

The Trail Master is indeed a classic, and still one of the best knives for the money. I have a San Mai III version, which has the added bonus of having a fully convexed zero edge blade geometry. Very rare in the production knife world, and it makes this knife chop even beyond what its weight and length would make you expect.
Anyway. Gratz on your purchase, you will never regret it.

OP...your thread finally prompted me to get one. I've been wanting one since the 80's. I love everything about it. (Even the thin handle.) And surprise, I did not know the swedge was sharpened...almost cut myself on it :).
