Trailmaster vs Battle Mistress

According to Busse it is not being compared to the trailmaster, what can I say. But it sure looks like it on the ads. Who really knows.

Having just examined one of Dave Beck's Pathfinder knives I feel compelled to suggest that it be included in this comparison. It is a very impressive blade. Quality is top notch!

Hey guys... whatever happened to the test?

Dan,

Like the elusive custom Emersons we may never see or hear a true and fair eval of the two.
Both companies seem to think they have the best and both put alot of advertising $$$ behind their product(Cold Steel more than Busse).
I do know that Cold Steel claims to have a Battle Mistress now and will be conducting tests on it. Will they be fair? Will they accurately reflect comparable testing? Is there really a need?
Perhaps all these questions will be answered in next week's episode. Same Busse time, Same Cold Steel channel.
Seriously though, WHO CARES!!! They are both probably very good knives.
Having only ever handled a Carbon V Trailmaster I can say it is one tuff mutha.
The Battle Mistress could be good could be hype, I do not know.
I do know this, between the two I would choose Cold Steel hands down.
Why? Availability, COST, and Availability. Plus I have as yet to see this highly advertised yet methinks fictionalized accounting of Busse's blades. Cold Steel on the other hand has them readily available for all to see.
Apples and Oranges come on guys we all know it is Cold Steel that Busse is targeting they all but name them in their add.

Is this a great Country, or what?!?! There aren't that many places in the world you can have a discussion about which product, this case a knife, is the best. There are some counties where it is plain illegal to make the claim your product is better than your competitors.

On to the knives, I would say for the most part, comparing a Trailmaster with a Busse with a Carson is more fun than anything else. There aren't that many of us that will truly use a knife to the extreme that it will fail. Yes, there are some who will use a knife to failure, but it is not that common. If I thought I would really need the biggest, baddest blade that could do almost anything, I would probably go with the Busse. I have never held a Carson. The Busse is just such a big hunk of metal! I have nothing against the CS Trailmaster. In fact I will probably be getting one in the near future. It is a heck of a lot of knife for the money. Yah, I know there are differences in steel and heat treat, but I don't think it will make that big a difference for the majority of blde users.

OK, now that I have rationalized all of this in my mind, LET'S DESTROY, I MEAN "TEST" SOME KNIVES.

I can't wait to hear what Mike comes up with.

Ahemmm..........

Hey Mike,

Was the Busse Battle Mistress ever tested?

I believe the BM should be tested as per Lynns challenge, not the Basic 9. Preferably both against the CS Trailmaster. Thanks, just lettin ya know we didn't forget.......

I have a Tim Britton "Terminator III" on order after I receive it and put it through the tests I will give you an update on it. The only problem is I have nothing to compare it to, so what I do to it will have to stand on its own.

I'm waiting for this test. I myself am getting tired of Cold Steel and Busse saying there knife is better than the other all I want is the facts.

Could somebody tell me what tests you are going to perform so that I can give a decent account and comparision. My Terminator III should, after I receive it, hold its own very well against any of these other knives.

The Basics are supposed to be arriving shortly, so it's not much longer folks.

This is going to be fun....

thanks and take care

I could really care less which one the challenge was on. I think a more fair comaparison would be the CS Trailmaster -vs- Basic #9. Reason? Price point. This way no more crap BS. The basic should be a good challenger. If the basic #9 Fails to beat the CS then I may use a BM in a future test. I think however, that the test will be a very good judge of the Busse because the BM and basic #9 are VERY similar.

NO! Use a Battle Mistress against the CS Trailmaster to be assured the BM's gonna kick @$$!

Wouldn't it be better if the #9 did it?
