Geri troop, reporting for duty, where do you want us?

Everclear used to come in at 190 proof. Now it's only 151 in Nevada. It and 151 rum are still the best kick for the weight.

Got to admit the days I tossed off straight shots of 151 rum are long gone.

Over the 15 yrs. I spent in the medical profession, I saw alot of astounding blood alcohol levels in people. Most States consider .10% to be legally drunk. .380% is considered the point of surgical anesthesia (i.e. your good and ready for the scalpel!) and 'round about .450% is usually fatal.

In an Ohio E.R., saw a few folks between .380% and .400% come in over the years (mostly on National Holidays). In Portland, where it's overcast and rainy most of the time, alcohol and depression go hand-in-hand. Saw a .410%'ish individual (He slept for a day and a half, with a raucous snore going). But LasVegas takes the cake. .425%!!! The police found this guy lying in a bush in the park :D Apparently his friends didn't know what else to do with his drunk butt and left him there. When you walked into his room, the alcohol in the air (leaving via his lungs) just knocked you down :( He was actually discharged later the next day.

Thats what we used to call "Snot slingin', knee walkin', commode huggin' drunk!"

.4 and some large percent of the population can die, I think around 50% are coma. Point 5 and the number goes up substantially, probably well over 90% It has been too long since I looked at the stats.

It is my personal conviction that my BAL has been .4 or higher on numerous occasions. After sobering for four hours, a dui of mine recorded a .34 I'll never forget the stunned look of shock and horror in the courtroom as the judge asked us offenders to raise our hands with each increasing level. Mine was the last hand raised. There would be no sympathy for munk that day, I'm afraid.

Hell, I still want to write a book called, Point Three and Above.
But what really takes the cake is a guy I met once who claimed to have been point 5. I've met a lot of strange characters over the years, but I believed him.

We must remember, the Human Being is a resiliant and adaptive creature.

I had some fun telling y'all bout this, but there is no fun in destroying the Gifts God has given us.

Besides, this is all done. You might even say the Steak is cooked.
Just kidding! I can still tie my shoes, honest.

For some folks, too much isn't nearly enough.

As one guy put it, no matter how hard he tried, he kept passing out before he reached his limit.

He got to pass out? What a lucky dog.

"Those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end, we thought they'd last forever and a day..." la da de da de dum

On the other hand we are still around, alive, and kicking today!

As some of you know I don't drink anymore--and with good reasons.

I recall very clearly one night while staying at my parents cottage with my wife, waking up to her yelling "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!?!?" seems I was standing at the head of the stairs calmly relieving myself down onto the 1st floor landing!:o The scary thing was that's where and how I woke up--standing and well you know the rest:( There are more stories but I'd like to keep some dignity intact;)

As the chief of the intake section of the county attorney's office in the capitol of Texas, I screened thousands of DWI cases, both breath tests and videos. My all-time favorite was the gentleman who was busted driving his Lincoln and blew a (if I'm lyin', I'm dyin') - .51. He was released on personal recognizance bond about twelve hours later, and was arrested an hour later while driving his pickup to get the Lincoln from the tow company - and blew a .34! I'm convinced he hadn't had another drink, was just functioning at a normal level for himself.

I bet he had another drink, but you are so right about life beginning at .3 and above. It was the only way to achieve normal function. Ask a drunk if he's "high"....What's that?

Cops and medical personel have seen a lot of things not always recognized in stats and grafs.

Well, this thread deserves a happy rest. Sounds like many of us could go on and on with the stories, but not with our lives, the way things used to go.

The way I see it I don't have anything to be ashamed of--at least I wasn't out driving in that condition putting someone's loved ones in danger....:barf:

God help the drunk who takes MY family away--may God and/or the police judge you before I do because you don't want my punishment...

I pray everyday that my loved ones don't come to any harm, especially the kind of preventable harm posed by drunks behind the wheel. Its laziness and moral corruptness that are to blame for EVER getting behind the wheel after drinking.

Have I done it? Yes. Am I ashamed of ever having done it--you bet your life. Will I ever do it again--hell no! Thank God I didn't hurt anyone is all I can say.

MauiRob....what can I say? God help you should a preventable accident ever harm your family.

If someone hurts a fellow's family it is very hard to remember you can't raise kids from a State or Federal Prison.

I've done many crummy things in my life. Thank God I mostly just hurt myself.

Take care Rob. Glad you're making better choices. I got a piss story too I'll tell you about.....someday

You know, just like a gun, a khukuri screams respect and responsibility, not recklessness.

I think I'll save time and just delete this to start with. :D

Fortunately I don't actually remember ever doing anything to be ashamed of under the affluence of incohol (hic). ;)

How convenient! :D
