Tramontina mods, making it work.

i've just made a wooden sheath for my modded tram, out of 3/16 plywood. i'm gonna make some sort of baldric rig for it... eventually. i might even post pics at some point.

i'm way too lazy for my own good.

Maybe a dumb question, but what is the reasoning of the golok shape blade? Just preference or is it designed for a specific function.

Good job BTW

for this particular machete I picked the golok to get rid or the point, which won't be used this time. I needed a machete that was small and light so younger scouts could use it comfortably but the things they will be doing don't require the point so I figured that removing it was one more small insurance against someone sticking themselves. We have dozens of regular trams for trail maintenance but modding one for group activities gives a more authentic feel to whatever they are making.

Does anyone happen to know if Tramontinas are available in Europe? I haven't seen them yet ...

I live in Germany, so getting something from Bulgaria shouldn't make sending it way more expensive than the machete itself ...

It depends on the model - the Tramontinas are overpriced here - the cheapest ones are around 7,50 Euro.Shipping shouldn't be more than 10 Euro, but I have to check that. Perhabs 20-25 Euro, depending on the model (machete + shipping).
My 16'' Latin machete was 11,50 Euro and the 14'' Bolo was 7,50 Euro.
I can send you one or more if you want, but I can't be sure that there won't be any trouble at the customs. Also shipping in Europe is very slow so it may take a couple of weeks for you to recieve tha package.

Cool, I found some models available in the UK and shipping from UK is fast and cheap, though the Machetes are overpriced as well.

here's a couple crappy pics of my first tramontina mod. think it won't be my last, though. still working on the patina.

Sweet! Should have a tram here on tuesday to play with! Great mods!

BTW - are you guys picking these up locally or purchasing online? I haven't seen any locally so I added one to a recent rifle parts order...
