tramotina

I convex mine, but I field sharpen them with a DMT Diafold as if they were a standard grind. My machetes virtually never need field sharpening, however, as the convex prevents edge damage and most of my machetes are Condors or Imacasas, which are just a little harder than Trams are.

Sorry about that. It's an 18" looked like this one. I reshaped the tip, it's the original handle but I ran it across the belt sander to round the edges and close some of the spaces. I put a liquid circuit etch on it then went to buff the corrosion out and accidentally grabbed bronze wool rather than the steel wool and some how the bronze transferred to the steel. Weird but it looks kind of cool. Some of this stuff and the oil I used to neutralize it got on the handle and darkened it, You'd never guess its brand new, less than two weeks old.

I bought this Tramontina at a bait house on Key Largo.

Looks very cool. The finished product is beautiful, perhaps even more so for being accidental.

Used my Tramontina 18" machete, that I purchased about a yr. ago from Cheaper Than Dirt for 9.95, for the first time today. I have to say, I was very impressed. We had about 14 inches of heavy wet snow yesterday, resulting in a number of scrub pines coming down. Figured clearing 'em up would be a good test. The largest was about 5" around, and it took a little time, but chopped right through it. Everything else was pretty much a piece of cake. Might be the best 10.00 I've spent in quite some time.
