Wow! I never tried making fire with a bow before...... now I honestly think I could do it with not too much issue.... ok, maybe the wood he had for it was perfect.... that may have helped! I need to try doing it in the woods for chits n giggles!

I have never seen a person make the notch in the hearth BEFORE they burned in. Seemed to work well for him.

Pretty sure that's how it's done in the SAS Survival Handbook.
