I read somewhere that the Trapper is the most popular pattern.
Do you prefer a full size Trapper or Moose? Or do you prefer a large Stockman?

Trapper for me too...

...but a stockman is close behind.

I like both, but the moose wins out for being a touch more comfortable in my hands. The top corner of the spey can get me on the trappers if I'm doing a little carving.

And looking forward to this guy.

Have a case not listed and the GEC possum skinner is pretty close to a moose/muskrat but the wharncliffe is only 1/2 size. Very slim compared to the bull moose.

I like a long bellied blade and a shorter straight edged blade, so I voted Stockman. While the knives with both a long clip and a long Wharnie appeal to me visually, in practice I think a short thin Sheepsfoot or Wharnecliffe secondary is more useful. I do use the spey occasionally on my Stockmen, I keep them thinned down and really sharp and mostly use it for shaving down callus or shaving off cactus glochids.

I wand a bellied blade and a straight-edged blade, so I voted stockman. Not a big fan of the trapper, although I have several. They are kind of hard to avoid.

Of these 3 patterns, I'd prefer a 4" plus stockman with round bolsters and nearly sunk joints, like a Schrade 61OT (exactly 4" - is that OK?).
I like having both a straight-edge blade and a bellied blade (neither classic trapper nor moose meets that criterion).
I like rounded bolsters much better than squared ones.
I like a serpentine handle shape over straight.
I really do NOT like tang corners sticking up over the frame.

I find on a trapper the tang on the closed blade can be uncomfortable. Not all but many stockman have blades that sit quite high and again can be uncomfortable. I find this to be less of an issue on moose. Also I’ve found on a moose, my grip doesn’t seem to push the other blade down as much as on a trapper when gripping tight. It of course depends on blade combo, height of blades, handle shape etc. But as a general choice, I went with moose.

I can only keep 1 full size trapper at a time bc I wouldn’t use or carry it the one I have hasn’t gotten carried in months. A 4” Trapper I like much better. But I’ll probably just keep the one I have and pair it with a fixed blade for hunting carry.

Same goes for a 4.25” Stockman but I carry it regularly after I got the Case Bose stockman I sold a queen cattle king and a gec #82. Only room for 1 keeper in that size22DB59DE-C1DD-477B-96DD-7A33FA2D4F7B.jpeg

Moose I haven’t tried because I don’t like the look of it. So I’d go Stockman

I'd go for the Stockman-yet I'd prefer a smaller one, large knives don't carry well unless in a top-coat.

The Stockman should have a low riding Sheepfoot for handling comfort in my opinion.

I dislike knives with two large blades, much prefer a Master and Minor blade set-up unless it's like a giant Penknife with single-spring construction-think Dixie Skinner. The latter being very good in the hand & offering an unusual blade combination.

I don't care much for big knives with multiple blades they are just to much bulk for me. I don't really like spey blades some of the other configurations are more to my liking. I have 3 full size trappers one is a safe queen my daughter gave me and I have two Boker single blade trappers one a slimline the other is their single blade trapper. I love the Bokers but seldom carry them I just prefer smaller knives. I have several medium sized stockman the 66 calf roper is my favorite but no big ones.

Beautiful knives, especially that father/daughter knife, Randy.
