hi , you all.

i find that trash1 is on the sykco net, and mostly interested me is that the new knife made of 1095.

and now how you guys think the steel ?:D

I'm a fan of the look, design, and specs --- I don't know enough about the performance of their 1095 and how it holds up to SR101 ---- therefore I don't know how I feel about the price. Even still --- I'm sure many will get it. I look forward to hearing field reports.

I don't think we'll know how well Busse 1095 performs until it's put up against what has arguably been the leader in heat-treating 1095 up to now . . . Rowen. Having said that, I have enough confidence in Jerry's heat treat that I'd buy a Trash 1 on spec before I'd buy an ESEE 6. After all, when was the last time Jerry introduced a steel that didn't outperform?

As for me, I'm waiting for the Youtube videos of the Trash 1 vs the ESEE 6 to surface. I realize the Trash 1 uses thicker stock than the ESEE 6 (1/4" vs 3/16"), but I still think they're close enough to provide some pretty close performance comparisons. I know there are a lot of Busse folks who own ESEE knives, so I figure it's only a matter of time before the comparos begin. Only question is, who's going to compare them first?

I have no ESEE but I did order a Trash 1, that I will be able to compare to a RMD and TGLB. Maybe I will buy and ESEE just to do a comparison.

Yes, those will be fun knives to compare the Trash 1 to as well. I always like Busse vs Busse comparisons. But frankly, I'm much more interested in a comparo of Jerry's 1095 vs Rowen's 1095. In fact, I'm already on the edge of my seat in anticipation of it.

I just ordered it and am very excited to see how it performs next to my becker bk 12 which is a similar design and heat treated by rowan..just got the email my cc was processed so it should be on the way soon. The two blades are similar in blade design minus the sudo choil and very different handle variations. I do like the becker handles a lot and also the res c handles so this will be a tough call..should be a fun test. I know 1095 steel is good and knowing busse kin this should be some tough stuff...great blade design and handle option..can't see how this can go wrong

Took the thoughts right out of my head. If that blade was in SR101,, I would have one on order already. Rowen's heat treat of 1095 is pretty stellar, so I want to see a side by side before I pull the trigger.

That's what I'm talking about. Make it so, wildnewfie! :)

I said it before and I'll say it again . . . when it comes to heat-treating steel, do NOT bet against Jerry. If you've seen what he can do with other common alloys like 154CM for instance, you'd know what I'm talking about.

It will be interesting to see the difference of the similar blade designs in a quarter inch thick vs 3/16...the thicker stock will be better for camp chores such as processing wood...might replace my basic 8 le depending on weight..this would be epic as I love the B8 it is a great all around knife. I do have an ash in .32 but it is almost too much blade so I am very excited by this offering..this with an axe or hatchet and neck knife could be a great combo..once it arrives I will have to take a hike and test it out!

I hear that! My hope is that after the Trash1, they offer a 10" blade,, love that Res C

I thought scrapyards were previously sr77 not sr101? Am I wrong on this? I also wonder what brought on the change

Got mine ordered. I'm betting this knife will be full of win. May order a second if it is as good as I think it will be. At that price how can you loose?

Ordered mine as well.................only problem was I got charged International Shipping ($54.95). I sent them an email regarding glitch and assume they will correct.
I'm in Georgia (USA)....not RUSSIA:rolleyes:

Scrap Yard started with SR77 and moved to SR101. Why? Because they ran out of SR77 in the dumpster, that's why. ;)

Maybe it's your avatar that fooled them. ;) :D And oh by the way, there's a Georgia near Russia.

This much I'm confident of. Jerry has a big reputation to protect . . . one that's best summed up by Mike Stewart who said, "Jerry Busse makes some of the toughest knives on the planet." If Jerry puts his name on a blade, it's ready to rock and roll or it wouldn't be there.

Got it! Thanks. It's been a while since I paid much attention to the SY site but now I see the sold out blades were sr101......... I also noticed this morning that the hawks are gone on the SR page

You might not have the chance to do that.
Yard's gone to the old model where a specific blade will be up for order for only limited time... Something similar to the BG ASH & AD... Wouldn't be surprised if TRASH is gone off to the 'SOLD OUT' pasture within a week as well.

Yep. Just depends on how much 1095 Dan was able to pull out of the dumpster. ;) :D

As always, there's only one right time to buy Busse and kin knives . . . the moment you see them.

Cool looking knife. Very versatile. I was just looking at old Basic7 pix thinking, "You know, if that blade was fatter, it would be the best. But it's too thin for chores like cooking." This solves that. And a decent choil so you can really choke up and chop well.

Alas, I need another knife like a hole in the head. Working on that whole "simplification/decluttering" thing. I figure 2 Hell Razors will do the same tasks. LOL (One in each go-bag from years ago. Wondering why I need 2 go-bags at this point.)
