TRASH1 ON THE SYKCO net

Cool looking knife. Very versatile. I was just looking at old Basic7 pix thinking, "You know, if that blade was fatter, it would be the best. But it's too thin for chores like cooking." This solves that. And a decent choil so you can really choke up and chop well.

Alas, I need another knife like a hole in the head. Working on that whole "simplification/decluttering" thing. I figure 2 Hell Razors will do the same tasks. LOL (One in each go-bag from years ago. Wondering why I need 2 go-bags at this point.)

You have two HANDS doncha?

You might not have the chance to do that.
Yard's gone to the old model where a specific blade will be up for order for only limited time... Something similar to the BG ASH & AD... Wouldn't be surprised if TRASH is gone off to the 'SOLD OUT' pasture within a week as well.
Between my AMS and INFIDI, I'm covered in the small to medium range in INFI. I meant I wanted to see what people think about it, and then wait for them to offer a larger blade in it. I really love res c,, and a killer heat treatment in 1095 with the comfort and shock absorption of Res C sounds amazing.

Well, I am a fan of ESEE 1095, so I don't see why this would not be as good or better. The price is right to.

I was told that their 1095 is differentially Heat treated. So when you strip it, it will show a nice hamon.

I'm happy to see that Dan and Jerry are building an ash out of 1095 this is going to be a mighty fine blade...I ordered as soon as I saw it knowing Jerry's heat treat SKILLS this should be a Rock Solid Dog.....

It is "ASHesq" so you KNOW I have one (OK two) on order :). Thankfully elof_alv managed the Australian order for us as I am still in SA ;). I am also a big fan of ESEE's 1095 so I can only look forward to this as well :)

"TRASH" "ASHesq"....I knew you of all people would not pass up an "ASHesq" style blade from the "Kin"....:D Good on ya Mate....saw your other post on the Dark Continent Adventures sounds amazing....

Yes mate it has been great !!! I would love to be heading right back into Mozambique NOW !!! It really was that much fun (the memories of the heat, ash, mosquitoes, sore back and legs have faded enough now) :)

Not a fan of the ASH, but throw a ResC handle on and I am all over it. Hope we see a lot more models with the ResC handle, especially on 8+ blades. A FBM with ResC? Sign me up!!

Ahhhh Yes the Memories.....the sore ones will fade while the fun and exciting moments will live on and grow with embellishment as the stories are retold around the campfire....:thumbup:

I don't think we'll know how well Busse 1095 performs until it's put up against what has arguably been the leader in heat-treating 1095 up to now . . . Rowen. Having said that, I have enough confidence in Jerry's heat treat that I'd buy a Trash 1 on spec before I'd buy an ESEE 6. After all, when was the last time Jerry introduced a steel that didn't outperform?

As for me, I'm waiting for the Youtube videos of the Trash 1 vs the ESEE 6 to surface. I realize the Trash 1 uses thicker stock than the ESEE 6 (1/4" vs 3/16"), but I still think they're close enough to provide some pretty close performance comparisons. I know there are a lot of Busse folks who own ESEE knives, so I figure it's only a matter of time before the comparos begin. Only question is, who's going to compare them first?
Someone locate Noss4 and lets get him back in front of the camera. Ill even donate a paintball mask:D

Having used a lot of 1095 blades I will add my two cents here. Rowen does a great PRODUCTION ht on 1095 however is pales in comparison to some customs I have had in 1095. If the Scrapyard website is right and they ran it at 59 HRC it will have considerably better edge retention than the 1095 made by Rowen however unless they have left the spine softer it will be close to half as tough as the Rowen blades. Now if Jerry does what he normally does with his steels and puts the edge at 59 but the spine closer to 50 you will get custom level 1095 performance at a production level cost.

1095 is a great steel , performs very well and I'm sure with Busse heat treat it will be great

I love my laser strike

How do you guys think the Trash-1 stacks up to the 711 and the Regulator at .33?

What we really should be discussing is wether edge retention is far behind SR-101 and if it's potentially tougher.

From what I can tell -- the blade profile at .25 inches and 6.5 inches in length on a res-c handle --- should make a vary utility minded tool. What I mean by that -- is that the shape, specs, weight, and design doesn't lend itself to be anything other than a work horse tool. I think that's awesome btw.

And that would be stunning, particularly for the price! Here's hoping. :)

HAHA! If the Trash 1 really is diff-tempered, I suspect it's game, set and match for SYKCO before Rowen even has a chance to step foot on the court.

There is simply no way on this earth 1095 will ever have the edge retention or toughness of SR101 it simply doesn't have the alloying elements in it to pull this off. However when is the last time you saw a 7 inch blade out of 1/4 inch thick SR101 sell for 130 bucks? 1095 is great for price and SR101 is great for performance.

Edge retention -- I agree

But differentials heat treated 1095 --- I suppose it could potentially be tougher. Maybe not at the apex of the edge -- but the whole knife overall -- I don't know what do you think?
