ok, so I have 6 sheaths in my first batch.

The following are the first 6 dudes to post an 'I'll take it' in this thread, minus the lefties because none of these sheaths are left handed.

If you don't want a sheath at this point, no problem- just drop me a pm or post here, whatever works for you. I'll try and have them complete and ready for delivery the first week of February- barring unforeseen circumstances.

The price for these first 6 will be $150USD plus shipping, paid via Paypal G&S, unless you're in Canada- in which case the price is the CDN equivalent to $150USD but paid via etransfer and no postage costs.

I'm going to call these first 6 'production prototypes'. Some are a little flawed, but all will be functional. I think I'll lower the price to $120 to reflect that.

If you are after a more flawless example, you might want to wait. If you use your knife and just need a good, solid sheath for it one of these might be the ticket. I haven't quite worked out the math yet, but the production version of this sheath will likely be around $165

I'll be using a different cut of leather for the next run. Also, the CPK logo won't be burned in, it'll be stamped. That's about it, really. Maybe flawed wasn't quite the right word.🤷‍♂️

I opted for a cut of leather that takes a mold better, the stuff I've been using is really nice- actually costs more- but doesn't quite take the shape of the handle as nice as I like.

At any rate, I'ma use this first 6 to dial in the stitching procedure and determine how much thread per. Work out the kinks, so they won't be quite as dialed in as the upcoming units.

there's something like 40 sheaths in this box. I'ma just get through these first six and then figure out a way to proceed with the rest. Do em all in one shot? Or do a batch of then or whatever at a time?...Or?...
 
I built a belt loop system for this sheath that features a removable keeper strap. In fact, the whole assembly can be removed

I'll get the components laser cut for consistency once I get all the dimensions dialed in..
 
this prototype isn't waxed, just put a little boot grease on and not finished nice. The final version will be waxed just like the rest of the sheath. This one is hand cut, future ones will be laser cut.
There are 3 Chicago bolts that hold this thing together. It's pretty simple and I feel like I thought this one pretty well through.

ok, well this was a friggin long and ridiculous 'preorder' type thing, so my apologies to all! Life is unpredictable, and so it goes...

Anyhoo!

The sheaths are wet molded and ready for hot packing. I'm waiting on getting the straps back from laser cutting. Once I'm done assembling them, I'll contact each of you to get all our info together for invoicing and shipping.

To anyone else who wants a sheath like this for your Basic5 / FK3- I have 40 cut out and ready for assembly at some point down the road. Plenty for everyone, but a little longer wait. If you claimed a sheath in this thread at any time and you didn't make the final list, reach out and I'll make sure you get your sheath without much extra waiting.

I worked my ass off over the weekend, and am happy to say that this project is almost complete! (well, this phase of the project lol!)
There's some clean up work to do, snap installation and further finishing treatments- here's where things are at now;

this batch of sheaths is now complete. I've just ordered shipping boxes, and once they arrive I'll dm everyone on the list in order to get the invoices out.
