Truth circle..

Despite what I said about my nessie above, this a.m. when it came time to pick out a knife for the weekend trip I had it in my hand but put it back and packed my BK2.

Happens to me all the time. :D

I really, really, falling head over hills in love with this BHK and FBF Bushcrafters. Man, these are some awesome, perfectly sized, great handled knives. Andy's (FBF) handles are really the best in the business, IMO, for custom knives.

I broke my hand last year, and I have a hard time with long term work with a knife. Real bad hand fatigue. I can use Andy's handles for hours, and my hand never hurts or gets tired. I can use every knife I own, but after an hour of carving, beating, and using a knife, my hands get tired.

Ya'll should try out one of those BHK's, for not alot of money, its a good custom/production bushcraft knife.

Yeah, I've been eyeing the BHK Pathfinder Scout and the Bushcrafter for a couple months now. I keep telling myself to wait because I really need a new workbench instead.

I just got an Izula II and I am loving it.......for my favorites it is a toss up between the BK2 and the Izula II........I am also looking into an ESEE 3.......it seems that on the knife exchange here that there are not alot of ESEE or Beckers available........I guess I take that as a sign that people like them

I love my Swamp Rat RMD and Rodent Solution as much as my Becker's, but not more. I just picked up a new blade from Diamond J Knives that I'm really, really loving...oh, and my Case Amber Bone Trapper too...whew...

And with all the BHK love I'm seeing lately makes me regret selling my bushcrafter. I picked it up early last year, but it didn't get much time outside. When the time came, and I need some $$ to fund another purchase, I sold her! I've regretted it ever since. But oh well, it's a production blade for them, so I'll just have to get another one!! :D

You can usually find me with a Grohmann #4 survival or Ontario Blackbird SK5 on my belt. Flat grinds are where it's at for general utility, it's what I appreciate so much about my BK 11's. People usually get touchy with my BK9 outside of hunting season.

Welcome to the Becker forum, and Bladeforums, I'm glad you made your first post with us.

I like Paul's design. We hoisted a few beers at Blade, and I'll tell you, Hedgehog Sheaths are PERFECT. Great sheaths, not so great prices. :D

I handled the SK5, but I've never put one to use. Do you mind expounding a little on it, and how it works, and what you thinik of it?

The Blackbird is my next in line with OKC. The KA-BAR Pestilence is calling my name as well. It reminds me of some old WW!! style tools.

I don't need it but I love the look of the Fox ATC Comanche Tomahawk. A hawk with G-10 scales. Tell me that is not awesome.

Sk5 is pretty cool. It's the first knife I've had with a spear point blade. The 154CM? steel is pretty light for stainless steel. Basically I use it for opening packaging cutting rope and stripping bark for fire. The Grohmann has a curved edge, which is better for stripping bark, but I find I have better control I get with the Sk5. I know the "One knife" thing is a bit of a hot subject, but I could comfortably live with just the sk5 or the #4

About the Sk5 or the Flat grind?
I shall answer....BOTH!

Flat grind is in reference to not having a secondary bevel and not specifically towards the cutting edge it's self. It's incredibly low drag. Works much similarly to a bushcrafter but I figure I like it more. It may be the Mora's I've been using, but I don't like the throw away mind set that comes with them.

Sweeeeeet!!!! I've been curious about the SK5, wanna here more. Keep going. I've heard Paul's spiel, its pretty good. Whatchoo got next?

I'll be honest my favorite knife I own is my BK11. I have it with me always and love it even better now that I have the micarta scales. Next would be my Kershaw Composite Edge Leek. Way less intimidating than the 11 when I have to pull it out and use it, everyone loves the composite look and it takes away from "he's got a knife!" looks. Next would be my BK2 for obvious reasons. Not sure how many knives I really have but got to be over 100 easy now and I'm not sure I will ever have a knife that gets as much day to day use as the 11.

...stuff...
Man, you should see Ethan's Collection, nothing wrong with liking different knives...

PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!

Honestly tho. My newest guilty pleasure is the Spyderco Endura 4 in ZDP 189. You can't dull this knife. I ran through the Kershaw leek's steel, (old leek before the sandvik steel) in 3 days opening boxes before needing a touch up. Then the new speed bump in about a week (new somethingsomething CPMsomething) ... (just the dulling on the very tip -- This is opening boxes. A LOT of boxes.) The Endura zdp-189 is just... scary. It's my first experience with a steel of this caliber. I feel like it is laughing at the boxes. I don't know if it's dulled at all. I can sharpen knives. I shaved my whole face with a Kershaw leek recently (on a dare, I won and didn't cut myself) that I sharpened. But... that 189 zdp. If I ever have to sharpen it. I fear for my stones...

So I guess what it comes down to is, We are not Fanboys. We like Knives, some more than others. I just bought myself a new one, I'm calling it a Celebration of Knife, in Ron Hoods Memory.

Depends what I'm gonna do with it, but for some tasks I dig my Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri better'n my BK9. As a chopper, it beats the 9 by a pretty fair margin. Most other tasks, they're very comparable, which is to say, either one suits me fine for those tasks. But for batoning, the 9 wins. So it's really a tie. Chopper = Gurkha, batoning = 9. Draw-cutting, digging, slicing, everything else = even.

Now, if we include folders, then yeah, I got knives that are more favored simply because they get more pocket/carry time. But "love" 'em more? Nah, just better suited for EDC types of duties. Can't say I "love" any of 'em if ya get right down to it.

I have always loved the Cold Steel Recon 1. My wife just found out the Navy Seals carry this folder and saw a Seal decapitate a man with it on Deadliest Warrior. My anniversary is in a couple months and now she understands why I want one. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
