Truth circle..

I have always loved the Cold Steel Recon 1. My wife just found out the Navy Seals carry this folder and saw a Seal decapitate a man with it on Deadliest Warrior. My anniversary is in a couple months and now she understands why I want one. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I saw that episode. That was an interesting match up, and demonstration. The guys was screaming at the top of his lungs.

I also have one, but I got mine some time before deadliest warrior was even a show. Good knife, I stripped the blade on mine, cuts great.

I saw one at a local shop a long time ago as well as in catalogs. I have destroyed pretty much every folder I have ever had. So my wife was never keen on me spending $50+ on a folder. I showed her the Deadliest Warrior episode on purpose. All chicks think SEALs are sexy because they are so deadly. Hell, I find SEALs sexy. This was my way of brainwashing her.

Now I need to find a fireman with a Machax. ha ha ha

Maybe I am a tard but besides food prep, why do you guys love to strip the powder coat so much? Must sex appeal or what?

My BK2 is my favorite "big" knife.

But in the EDC and practical use arena, the tweeners are gonna have some stiff competition for my attention from my own knives, which are finally maturing. I really like 'em. The bottom two are my new EDC belt knives:

(Oregon, you're a serious dude for shaping so much micarta, I gotta say. Impressive)

Are those leather grips on the Necker?

Are those leather grips on the Necker?

They are, on a D2 Camillus.
Pressed around wood fillers in the tang which give it a bit more thickness and texture.

um... er... ok, yes. :-)

actually at first I pressed the leather to the handle without the wood fillers, and they conformed slightly to the handle with concave surfaces over the tang cut-outs. Neat, but I wasn't entirely happy. So then I fit some poplar scraps to the holes and pressed the leather again, but now got convex sides. Since the leather was originally sized to the tang without the fillers, the final result was that the leather is a bit shy of the edge of the handle all the way around, but not in a bad way. The front of the leather scales mate up with the opening of the Camillus kydex sheath, hence the odd length.

Ultimately I decided the BK11 is too much blade, not enough handle, so the best way to make it most comfortable and usable was to build that green knife in the picture.

Both sets are things to be coveted for sure. Superb work.

Well, I use a softer resin than some so it's not so bad. I'm taking the summer off though. No more till fall.
