Trying a pic of the 2 Dot

Thanks, Mike. Scott in Blade's Guide the third rivet was added "During this time frame..." meaning 1974-1980. Preston

I follow the 3 rivets for a 2 dot being from 1974 to 1980, but the 2 rivet 2 dot blades are from the early 1974 to 1980, anyone know what year the transition was made?
I compared a 4 dot blade frame to a "late" 2 dot blade w/ 3 rivet frame, radius on the edge of the brass frame is nearly identical(not as squared as an "early" 2 rivet 2 dot blade), but as Mike said before, the newer the frame, the wider it becomes.
I follow what's in BG, some of my statements and assumptions are gathered from there, the rest are just made based on looking at the 110's in my collection.
I'm just trying to gain some "Buck knowledge" so I can enhance my collection, and build appropriate displays.

...Key board busted last night...Go figure :jerkit: ...all I can say about this silly knife fellas is that it cleaned up fairly well. I'm gonna true up the blade over the week end. As for just what the heck it is...It must be an "early" 2 rivet 2 dot as there are no extra holes for the third rivet in the frame. Placing it along side of a 4 dot you see that the 4 dot looks quite a bit larger frame-wise. The chamfer is also quite a bit larger on the 2 dot than the 4 dot. By larger I mean that looking at the knife with the stamp facing you, the chamfer shows about .187 from the bottom of the chamfer to the top of the false edge. The 4 dot that I'm comparing it to shows about .062 by comparison. ( much larger included angle on the 4 dot ) It seems like I can tell that a lot more "hand working" went into the 2 dot. The blade will lose from .032 to .060 during the straightening but I won't go any further as I hate to thin up the blade too much. I may just leave some of the larger nicks as discussion points...LOL...I will say that the knife is tight as a drum though. It does look much better now than it did when I opened the package. I too have tons to learn about the multitude of variations in the 110 progression. From the looks of Ebay and all the resellers out there, I'll have to read about most of them...LOL...

DarrylS,

I'm glad for you, post pictures(before and after) if you will. It's always great to see and be able to appreciate the work that one has put into a knife.

I'm not sure how much e-baying I'll be doing in the future...getting pretty risky me thinks. I might take a chance on something NIB and/or that has a good photo, better yet several photos from different angles, or someone that I've bought from before. Preston

...Not sure about the "before" pictures Preston...My kid is gonna be away til next week with her camera. I should be able to get some "after" pics up when she gets back though. As for Ebay...I'm almost starting to think that we all are overlooking a great knife resource right in front of us...the Forum "Exchange" and the BCCI trading post. It appears that you can't find more honest folks than those we have right here in our forum as well as the Blade Forum people in general. Better by far than the anonymous sellers out there in Ebayland...LOL...

...I still can't believe how good that fella was at hiding all the chopped up parts and areas of the knife by positioning that picture lighting the way he did...sheeesh...

Preston,
I think you hit the nail on the proverbial head. If they're not willing to put up good photos then I will pass on it. Ironically, the inverted three line 110 that I scored had only a single photo of fair quality. I asked the guy to post better photos and lucky for me he did. :D

...I remember that Mike...I saw the initial picture and passed on it...So now I stand around kickin' myself in the back-side...LOL...Glad you got it though... :)

DarrlyS,

I do watch the BCCI trading post and in the newsletter, tried to contact one by e-mail and never heard back...this was before Xmas...will try again by phone...it wasn't his e-mail(his name wasn't in it, it was a her???).

I'm telling myself that I'm taking a break(negative cash flow) and reassessing the direction I want to go in my collection. Preston

Yeah, Yeah....I said that last week just before I re-assessed my collecting strategy and ended up buying another couple knives. :D  :D

Preston...don't neglect the exchange as well...lotsa good folks there too. And don't be afraid to ask for something in the "Wanted" area. You do see a lot more custom made knives by various makers there but there have been some great Bucks found there as well.

DarrylS...I do look in the exchange is fact bought one, not a Buck, this week...I hadn't thought of using the wanted for my own needs...sort of sorry that you brought that up!!!

Mike...we're really sick puppies aren't...but I'm having a blast. Preston

I just received a third version 110 that I won on Ebay. The width of this version is narrower still; slightly narrower than the fourth version.

That's the one that was on the Atkin's!!!! Nice, Mike you are really getting some good stuff. Preston

Well, I can almost most tell by that that you do not have a weight problem...Atkins is a recent, popular, diet, low carb, named after the Dr. that introduced it. Preston

I count three persistent 110 bidders + 334dave on that... :grumpy:
That one finally went for $31, which seems a good price to me...Four of the bidders I recognize [+ 334dave!]; they all bid on any 110's they find... :grumpy:

oh yea - what he said! if you dont see me bid on it it is over priced or not worth haveing or i am sick or BROKE... take yur pick!

that last buck inverted has a rare full balde for its years ... it does seem to have the edges of the bolsters "buffed" off and now looks to be some like the newer ones.
i am sending two 2 dot and one 3 line no dot in to be rebladed at buck with new blades. these knives have one deacent balde and 2 low but still good presentable blades ie: nothing to be ashamed of!!
should be there in a few days
if you ask in a letter to joe he may be able to grab the blades and put one on a frame that has a realy bad blade... in the pict you cn also notice the difftence in the buck stamping!!! there is little info put out by thioes in the know as to when these stampes changed ... is a possable project for a entustest .... i can check on what i have in 2 dots (still have 3) and see if any one wants to trade...
no on that 3 ine inverted = i praposed that it had occured in another post and got ? as to why i thought they were out there... glad to hear it and now it seem that i have sence heard that they are not common could be that they are not rare...
you want to consiter a trade... i want one jest because a certen big buck collector seemed to po pa my sujestion tha tther were some and i will be going to a blade show were he is likely to be with my meager colllection which i would postivitly LOVE to say "you know that one you said did not happen - well not only is there one but Here IT is...
kinda of sorta hard to explain - but i am sure you know ... ~si~?

any info you guys gather feel free to email me with it as i am collecting ALL 110 and related knives info that i can.... yea i know u ritteing a boook? mabye... but i will share with all wehn i get it in one file...

Oh ok.....:o I'm still not sure of the connection between the Atkins diet and the knife, but then again I may be a little slow! :o :( All in all, it is a nice example. Now if I can only find the other versions in like condition I'll be a happy camper. :)

Dave,
If you're referring to the one in the photo I just put up, it may be a bit deceiving. The bolsters are still square. Mike

Mike, sorry for all the confusion...my thinking was that narrower related to slimer, slim=diet=Atkins... Preston
