Ok, Long story short.

I have a possibility to get my hands on an M4/G10/Ti frame lock Military, but there is another knife that has always called to me, the Benchmade 710 in M390...
I am sure if I were to wait a bit, I could find one, so that isn't an issue.

The other knife that would cause my immediate change of heart would be an M4 710.
I Love M4, so that is a Huge bonus for me.

My Daily usage sees cardboard, pallet wrap, plastics (thick and thin), banding material, wood, using the spine to scrape burrs from aluminum, copper, and brass about once or twice a week.

So, between the G10/Ti M4 Military or 710 in M390, what is your choice?

Can't help much as I dont have g10/ti m4 millie, but I do have a three others including a full ti millie s30v and a 710-1401. Hard to say which one is better because they are very different (other than both have a long blade). As a dealer exclusive, I think 710-1401 is discontinued so maybe you want to get it first?

My next millie will be the kw exclusive s90 cf/ti (I choose it over g10/ti m4. There is a noticeable price difference but still).

Why would you choose the S90V over M4?
Is stainless steel high on your priority list?

I like the Military better overall. But I do not care for M4.

I'm not a BM fan but the 710 is a great knife AND I love M390.

What's the price difference? Are you buying used?

I gotta have tip up carry.... 710 gets my vote. Plus the 710 takes up less real estate in the pocket.

cant go wrong with either. pick the one ya want more.

I'd say the Military would be my choice, probably one of the current exclusive batches in a powder-metallurgy steel and CF.

Even the baseline S30V models would still be my choice over the M390 710 primarily because I basically never encounter a cutting task where a recurved saber-ground blade would be superior to a long flat-ground leaf.

Add my general distaste for axis locks and Benchmade's inconsistent QC, and the military becomes my go-to without question.

I would be buying used.
Well, I would potentially be trading into the Military, that depends on what Jerry Busse has in store for me (by way of Mystery Bag loot).

Stainlessness matters some to me but more importantly I want to try out the spyderco cf scales and the R.I.L lock. And I like the cf/ti combination.

The M4 Military that I am looking at is a G10 slab with a Ti R.I.L. frame lock on the other side.

Pretty easy remedy (see below; CRK clip, 6-32 Tee Nut with collar ground smaller plus 6-32x 1/2" button head screw). My recommendation is the KW exclusive CTS204P Millie (dark green G10, linerlock). I think the Millie truly shines best as the light weight pocket sword it is in linerlock form.

My point was that I don't see Spyderco discontinuing the Millie anytime soon (ever, actually;)). So why not get the one that will only become more difficult to acquire later on down the line.

IMG_2996.JPG IMG_0937.JPG IMG_2775.JPG IMG_2752.JPG Tough choice William!! I have a 710-1401, 710 in D2 a Cruwear and a Ti Millie in s30v.......and there is no way I could choose one over the other.
I will say the 710 is slicier than it looks and the re curve is very slight. It will definitely cut! Very comfortable in hand. Amazing action, just amazing!
It's a great knife.
I can say mostly the same things about the Millie.
Jeez, I am absolutely NO help!!!

If you'd like, NJBillK NJBillK , I can send you my 710 & both Millies to check out before you decide.
Let me know and I would be able to get them out to you tomorrow.
Joe

Thanks Joe, and while I appreciate it, I have handled both on numerous occasions, and at one time owned a 710-1401, but I had to part with it... While I didn't use it, I flipped and handled it a bit, so I am confident that I like the 710. But I Love M4...

I know I am not that big of a fan of the Tip Down only part of the Military, I feel it ruins the ergos. My solution would be to just remove the clip and make a clipped pocket slip for it and tool the leather.

Thank you again Joe, always the gentleman.
