Trying to love a peanut

yes that includes emeritus peanuteers and vaunted peanut figureheads ...

I side with the anti peanut alliance. For me, theyre too small to hold well, they have semi dangerous half stops and shallow nail nicks, the blades are too short to do anything useful really and the pen blade is so small its just silly. I just dont like such a tiny, fiddly knife.

I used to carry a CASE trapper and large stockman. Thought they were the "ITS" of my knifedom.

Then came along the lowly peanut. Compared to the trapper and large stockman it is a toy I thought. But since it was a gift I figured I was obligated to carry and use it. Little did I know the little peanut would be the one knife I never leave home without. It opens packages, cuts things out of the stupid plastic that they are encased in. I've used it to fillet fish, even cutting down sapplings by finding the bend spot and groving around it.

I wear x-large gloves and have no problem using it at work removing labels from bottles.

My one goal was to use it to field dress a deer (crazy, I know). But I don't hunt anymore so I guess that's not going to happen.

As has been said " it doesn't have to be big, it just has to be sharp"

I enjoy it when I carry a peanut. I can't remember a time when it failed to complete the task at hand.
The low cost means that you can have more than one. I have 9 or 10. But it is not my first choice for my EDC.
Something more in the 3 1/2" to 4". GEC's model 15 to a 47 is about right. Now this thread needs more pictures.

I'm one of those people that tend to carry "extra". So I most likely have a backup knife...and backup to the backup. The mighty Peanut makes a great "just cause I can" second, third, or fourth knife.

But I have also taken a liking to some of the "Peanut Sized" knives of slightly different design. Such as the Beagle I've shown off a bit in the past. Gives just a hair more to hang on to.

And I've been VERY tempted to try a Pemberton.
Not my pic.

I used to be indifferent...
but I can't be bothered anymore...

It seems the Peanut knife like its leguminous namesake causes division in society.
Nut free school zones ...so no peanut butter sandwiches for lunch...the irony there is that when my boys went to day care...nut free zone...the management had a pallet of chocolate bars containing guess what delivered to be sold off for fundraising.

The biggest challenge I've had with this is getting enough fiber without the breads/grains. But that's another problem
Nice work on shedding some pounds.
If you're looking for fiber without grains, just add veggies, fruit, and beans. Easy :)

Thanks. Its not grains in particular I'm watching, its carbs. Some veggies and fruit have a lot of carbs. Especially for the fiber they provide. I've always loved apples, but they are really high in carbs. So are carrots and of course potatoes. I've been educating myself the last few months. The thing is I have not been on a "diet". I'm totally ignoring calories. I eat plenty. I like what I'm eating. I just cut back on the carbs. I did it to get my sugar under control. The weight loss was a pleasant surprise :)

BEANS. period;)
Popcorn is good for a fiber containing snack and although it contains carbs they are the good whole grain type that you need, especially when having a low carb intake.

The mighty peanut is too small for me to be my only knife. ymmv
