So after some deliberation I decided to send one of my favorite EDC's in to the well-known tuffthumbz... thought I'd share my impressions. This guy is freaking awesome when it comes to modding knives. Everything he comes out with on his Youtube videos are great, and appear to be of exceptional workmanship and quality, my Manix was no exception.

The fit and finish was amazing, the quality was superb, and he was patient with all my noobish questions. It was worth the month or so wait. Anyone worried about sending a blade to Tuffthumbz should cease all fears. You will be pleased. This is now my favorite EDC and most likely, favorite overall knife. I carry it non-stop and I'm hoping to get some more work done soon.

There was a ton of attention paid to the details, every part of the scale is smooth and polished, and just very well put together. The knife came back to me looking so good one would think this is a factory option. The action of the knife is even smoother than when I sent it, a true testament to his attention to detail concern for the overall feel of the knife. The textured g-10 in his "reptilian" pattern feels great in hand, 1,000 times better than factory.

He appears to be quite busy with some projects he's working on, if you have success getting a hold of him (my only complaint is that he is difficult to get a response from at times), his work and service are highly recommended. All right, enough of my praise, I can't finish without showing off the knife, the pics don't really do it justice...

And the youtube video he made of it:

I'd recommend subscribing for sure, it's always fun to see what he comes out with.

Blood red scales? Kinda cool but kinda freakish. How many times a year the business end will turn red ;)

Confirmed. He goes the extra mile and then some to make sure the piece is perfect. Great, great guy.

Chuka what part of Idaho are you located ? I'm in Coeur d'alene . I also have experienced the great customer service of the Thumbz .

I'm clear across the state in the TV! I hear Coeur d'alene is amazing... need to make it up there one of these days.

i got an acid wash from him on my para2 and now it has blade play and the screws come loose a lot

Give him a call. I bet he'd fix it. He did ALOT of work on an SMF of mine, acid wash included, and it came back perfect!

I did give him a call and he was quite rude with me. I told him that the screws came loose on it after I flipped it a bit and he denied that it was his fault although it was never like that before and after I got it back from him it was and he claimed that I was just "looking for someone to blame."

Blue Loctite will fix the loose screws and you wont have to worry about them again.

Up and down or side to side blade play? My Para 2 has developed just the smallest smidgen of up and down. Barely noticeable but its there and I have to go looking for it. Still cuts like a laser beam and locks up strong.

I don't know what went on between parties, just saying things happen.

Yeah after a couple flips there's a lot of blade play and before I got it worked on the tang was perfectly aligned with the handles but now its completely off. I don't know if this is the source of the problems but its something that i noticed.
