Turley Knife Pictures

How about a picture of Ia woodsman beating on some ironwood with the Missouri

I got a chance to whip up on this demo knife. I was surprised that for a small chopper it worked very well. In this pic I am smoothing a Ironwood(Hornbeam) ridge pole for use in shelter building. It worked its way through a quarter sized knot quite well. There are no other pic of what I did to this knife. I used it to batton through some Honey locust and chop through some wrist thick Basswood. Like I said I was very pleased. The edge showed no sign of abuse, and was still sharp enough to preform finer tasks.

Wish I could have seen the Missouri. Hopefully sometime soon I will get to test it out.

Anyway, here is a picture of my Gasconade, all purtied up.

And the Current River:

Weird background, oh well.

Whoa! You cleaned your Gasconade up awesomely, man! Nice job, I know that bad boy was dirty from using it fo' sho'.
Good seeing you again this weekend, brutha.

Yeah man, I am not even sure you could call its finish a patina. It was pretty grimy. I kinda liked it though. Took me a bit of work with a sanding block and then some Mother's polish and elbow grease. Of course, I also sharpened it before I saw the video you put up about sharpening the variable edge. I'm gonna watch that one today so I know for next time.

Thanks for looking,

Thanks, guys.
Yeah, I love the olive wood.
My top three favorite woods now days are:
1 Bethlehem Olive wood
2 good ol' Osage Orange
3 Stabilized teak burl

I wish I wasn't so hard on a knife, I'd make a set of Olive wood handled knives for myself.
