Turn Your Radio On!

Very nice Charlie! Thanks for taking the time to share and I am looking forward to seeing the progression.

Congratulations, Charlie-- incredible bone!

I'm not sure I'll be able to pass up the ebony, however:

How I love seeing that shield on #15s.

:)

I'm a little confused. Are there going to be GEC radio knives and Diamond Jack Radio Knives or are they all going to be Diamon Jack Radios?

A few more details - just got off the GEC phone! (no, I don't have a dedicated line;))
>They have Nickel Silver bolsters and Brass liners!
>They put the shield in the Ebony VERY reluctantly (and very expensively:eek:) It's too easy to sand off the letters and details in the shield. A cutler had to develop a system to make it work.
I think it's gonna be worth it though!!
>Thanks for posting the rough pictures, Sarah!!
>I think they are running a Tidioute Radio knife along with my Diamonds, but I don't know all the details.
> And finally, the finished Bone looks quite a bit different than the first pictures I posted. I thought the cuts were much finer, but when they are polished, they look like this!
Still real nice!!

Im very excited about your upcoming releases

Really looking forward to these Charlie, your contribution to the knife world is priceless.

We're cut from a similar cloth, as I'm a NPR junky :D. Garrison Keillor, Stuart McLean, American Routes, Car Talk, Jazz & Blues...count me in ;).

Thanks for the additional pictures Sara!!!

I'm confused. Are these your knives that you are having GEC make or is this a new GEC run? Since I have no idea how to purchase one of your barlows, how does this work?

22, These are a Special Factory Order. I request them, and pay to have them made. I distribute them to Bladeforums member dealers.
We cannot discuss the mechanics of the sales on this forum.
You can privately message or Email these dealers with your questions. They will have their Forum identities printed in GREEN, like mine.

Yes and Yes, plus in addition to Charlies SFO (Special Factory Order), GEC usually makes their own rendition using the same blades and frames of an SFO run, in their own handle cover and bolster treatment. Slightly different than the SFO itself, cosmetically.

Example, Charlies Barlow, and SFO from GEC, was released at the same time as GECs version, called a Boys Knife.

This time there is a Diamond Jack Radio Knife, and possible a GEC version with the word Diamond removed, since the Diamond was Charlies unique idea to distinguish his SFO.

Thanks very handy to know about the GREEN dealers

Now here is a simple Jack, but with a screwdriver instead of the usual pen knife. First one I'd ever seen, in a Schrade Cut. Co. stamping! I theorize they didn't make many, and most were damaged by applying too much torque, and discarded! This one survived by living in a salesman's roll!

Do you have a date estimate for that jigged bone Radio? The pile side jig makes me swoon.

As fate would have it, I picked this up on Saturday. It advertises Zenith Radio Cabinets. The condition is not quite as nice as Charlie's salesman's sample. It's stamped SCHRADE CUT CO WALDEN NY on both blades.

Okay Waynorth, I understand a bit better now. It didn't make sense for you to have the scales and it not be your own special order. Your Barlow appealed to me, but I had no idea how to acquire one.

Seems you're on the mend ,you've been missed. That Bill is a tricky fellow, but a great knife manufacturer.

Looks like another winner .
