Turning 21 soon...what gun to get?!

WELLLLLL it took a while but I finally bit and got a gun lol.

Here she is...a Smith and Wesson Model 60 Pro Series. I would really like to hear that I made a good decision :D

I literally bought it at 5 today...I'll have to wait a little bit as i'm at school. My friend's uncle owns a game preserve/gun range around here though so I hope to try it out soon (like before next weekend).

It was this or a new rifle that would be better suited for bear than my 7mm08. I was going to get a Browning x-bolt stalker in 300 winchester. It was only $530...doesnt that sound like a good price? Although it was the Browning demo model or something. Oh well...looked fine. The only issue I had with it was how loud the "click" was on the bolt. It's hard to say how much difference a little lube would have...but man was that loud.

Great little gun. From 125gr Federal NyClad .38s to 180gr Buffalo Bore .357s it can do just about anything and pack anywhere.

Good choice.

damn man, if you gotta even ask that type of question, you did make a bad decision! Why would you buy a gun which you arn't sure of or don't like? You should have the attitude of "My gun is the shit. I love it and its bad ass looking/feeling/shooting. All you m*ther fkers which don't like it can go to hell!!!"

lol I just coudlnt decide...I came in wanting to get the fnx. Then the inadequacy of my 7mm08 for deer popped in my head. Ahhh. I still think I made the right decision. It's a nice little gun and I can't wait to put some down range!

Nice pea-shooter Lad:thumbup:!!! Going to have to let us know how she shoots...

In my opinion a stainless revolver in .357 is the best all arounder. Home defense, hunting up to deer sized game, cheap
Plinking with 38 specials, total reliability. Mine is a s w model 66 with a 5" barrel. With target sights
i can hit a gallon jug 4 or 5 times out of 6 at a hundred yards.
It cost 300 from a local pd, and i spent another 150 for a smith to add the sights. If i could only keep one gun
that would be it.

Nice first handgun

My first was a Smith and Wesson 657, .41 magnum :D

You have to love Smith revolvers, great triggers, well built, and very accurate

I say forget the handgun and get a shotgun. A lot more fun, more versatile, cheaper, and way better for a defensive weapon if you ask me. Maybe a mossberg 590a1 or an older remington 870 wingmaster or police model (better than the current express model).

Thanks for the kind words guys!

@damn_animal-Walking in I planned on getting an FNX9 or 40...but there was just something about the revolver made me switch over.

@Kirk-I have a shotgun...but in some applications it would be quite excessive. For instance walking through the woods with the dog or friends, i'm not going to carry a shotgun lol (after all this isn't texas). They certainly have their purpose. Nothing like the sound of a pump action shotgun in the pitch black to the person breaking into your house.

my first handgun was a .357 w/6" barrel, and the only thing better than a new S&W is a well cared for vintage one. :)
you did fine.

From a gun guy who has bought and sold literally hundreds, if not thousands, you made an excellent choice.

Really hard to beat a Smith. And chambered in .357 there really isn't much that gun can't do.

I am sure you will be very pleased once you get a chance to shoot it a few times.

I would call BS on that. you know what really scares them, the sound of 4 slugs and 5 00buck mag shots comming at them in rapid succession!
