Tweenahs - New Pictures, specs...

I'm glad the flat grind made the cut, so to speak. I'd rather have the thinner flat grind than the thicker hollow grind. I'm not fond of hollow grind. I own a few, but they're far from being my favorite knives.

I can already see that the '15 will be my new go-to fishing knife for sure.

They're going to be made in USA like the other KaBar Beckers, right?

nah, taiwan, and cheap stainless :)

of COURSE they will be made in the USA :} Becker won't have it any other way, i would think. yeah, we had those prototype BK12 things, as a cost effective test of market. ignore those. the final version (hollow ground, thin, cut like scalpels) is much better in every way.

y'all: see post #1, contains the most up to date information we/i have... as we have it :)

'''oo Origins: knife made in USA, sheath made in ?'''

Sheath? Meh. I'm already drawing sketches for a handmade beaded neck sheath for it.

I went to find out what magazine I saw the tweeners in today. It was Knives Illustrated.

read this over in this other forum:

Here's the factory dates for availability (not production):
Tweeners= 03/15/2011
Machax= 01/16/2011

March 15, 2011 I presume they oopsied on that date and meant 2012.

3 months to wait.

Anyone have a time portal?

Well that does make sense haha, I wonder who said this and how accurate this is. I was hoping sooner, Looks like I will have to practice being patient.

Factory= available for shipping to dealers. They're gonna be introduced at SHOT but not available till then. The Machax and new scales "orange & black" will be available sooner 01/16/2012.

Bladite... Damn! that was quick;)

Well the world's supposed to end this year, or something. I don't want to be in a situation with fire and zombie squirrels falling from the sky and not have at least one BK-15 on me.

That's not right.

It was me... but that info is what I received straight from Ka-bar's sales department. On another note everything else from them (Becker included) is going up 4.5%.... almost everything, there's a small list of about 14 items that aren't going up. Fortunately Beckers are very reasonably priced to begin with and we all know "parts" are going up... or eh.. our dollar is going down.

No need to worry... you can have a Machax in your hands. And that'll make it right!

The Machax and Tac Tool are the two which never appealed to me.

But I do have a Camillus BK Patrol Machete :)

Ok I think I'm catching on now (please excuse me I have had a few beers tonight and it's taking me a little while) So they will be available to buy shortly after 3/15/2012

The Tac Tool caught my attention until i found out it was chisel ground. Im sure its functional but that combined with the serrations.......just not my style

What I thought the tweeners were coming out in Jan!!!!!!!! HURRY UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been helping neighbors with butchering and slaughtering since I think around 1984 or so. I've used all sorts of various butcher knives over the years. Nothing and I mean nothing has done that job better than my BK-5.

My typical gear is:

- Circa 2000 Camillus BK-5 Magnum Camp
- Himalayan Imports 20" Ang Khola, which is basically my cleaver
- One of my numerous Green River knives, usually a Sheep Skinner
- a humble razor blade (a thing I stole from Dad, his field dressing gear for deer or whatever is a really old butcher knife and a razor blade)

Here before long I want to pit a Becker BK-15 against a Green River Sheep Skinner and see who wins. The Green River already is ahead in price (about $15 for the blade + handle material), BUT KaBar's special version of 1095, one of my favorite blade steels, is wickedly sharp stuff if you sharpen it right. But, so are Green Rivers. The deciding factors will be in edge retention, durability,and ease of use I think.

Ouch. Tweeners not to dealers until March and in hand until late March/early April is not news I was hoping to hear.
