Gave myself a breathalyser before leaving the house (the wife is my DD when I drink with her parents) just because I was curious and blew a .09 :D

.09 BAC? That ain't "drunk", that's breakfast. Sissy.

Morning Snark!

Yesterday I went to the inlaw's place and got drunk in a hammock. Gave myself a breathalyser before leaving the house (the wife is my DD when I drink with her parents) just because I was curious and blew a .09 :D

My brother in law tossed me one of these when I was there too. Interesting little blade, would work for a few things in a pinch.

I really want to get him a nice knife as a little thank you for all the stuff he does for us. Only problem is that he is really particular about his tools (like we all are). Think I'm going to have to convince him to visit the one premium knife dealer we have around here and have him handle a bunch of knives and see which one he really likes.

Man, that's either that biggest cardsharp on earth or you've got baby feet!! ;)

Cool, looks like a neat little gadget.

The 'magic' of photo angles! I ware a size 12 or 13 depending on the brand of shoe, definitely baby feet

Those cardsharps are cool, but I like my spydercard a lot more. Thing has been in my wallet for 15 years. Just wish I had the plain edge version.

True, but I omitted the fact that I also partook in a lefty the size of a crayola marker :D

Well then, that's different. If I did that I'd never get out of the hammock for about 8 hours :p

Well my $14.95 Bk-11csm turned out to be just the sheath. I contacted them and they said they had another customer contact them about the same issue and that the listing was incorrect on the river store. Oh well. Worth a shot at least.

Here's the start. Drill press and O1 steel should get here in the next day or 2. Ordering the grinder and belts on Thursday.

From what little I can tell in the pic, it looks like you got yourself a fairly decent vise. Take your new drill bits and that cordless up in the self and drill the bolt pattern of the vise base in a front corner of that wood table. Be sure to mount (bolt) that dude as solid as possible, you don't want it movin around on ya.

Do I see a dremmel on the first shelf? Get you some of the half in. sanding drums for that in the 60 grit. That will be helpful working the inside contours of the handle.

Got some bad stuff headed our way. Even has the dreaded box: http://radar.weather.gov/ridge/radar.php?rid=ilx&product=N0R&loop=yes
It completely missed us down here (your cabin is safe!) but stay safe bubba!

Looks like a good spot! You might wanna throw some insulation in the ceiling just to cut down on the noise that they hear upstairs. Looks like a nice place to set up though!

^ Definitely mount the vice! You do NOT want to have that sucker wobbling on you. I've had a vice wobble off the table and land centimeters from my toe. Thank goodness for steel toe boots!

Thanks Todd. The vise is a Wilton and seems pretty heavy duty.

I will indeed take your advice and bolt it to the corner of the wood table.

Yep thats a dremel. Picked it up used a couple days ago for 10 bucks at a yard sale. Works good. Didnt come with any bits or attachments though but at 10 bucks i grabbed it. Ill get me some of those 60 grit 1/2" drums!! Thanks bud!

Also got the larger hammer, the level, and those 2 porter cable boxes of drill bits and screw tips at the same yard sale. Spent 18 dollar total with the dremel LOL

Man, yea id be glad to be wearing those boots LOL

Ill be doing the bulk of my grinding and stuff while the wife is at work and kids in school, so hopefully the noise is a non issue. Already talked to the neighbors a little and let them know if they hear any noise during the day its me working. Neither seemed to have a problem with it.. Not that i cared if they did, there annoying chihuahua barks all day and they play music with an insane amount base all the time. I was just trying to be a good neighbor.

At $18 bucks I would just be upset they didn't have more. Id buy them all day for that...... the thing you will have to watch with the dremmel is not to over work it and let it burn up. Try not to keep it under to much loaded stress for to long or your 10 bucks will just be a useless hunk of burned up plastic........

Your also gonna need to get some handles for those files. Laugh now, but I know many people that have been injured with hand files without handles. The sharp handle point gets pushed up your hand and wrist and in some cases can be a serious injury, I witness a guy using a file without a handle to take a burr off of a piece in a lathe one time in college. It caught and sent the file up his arm. INSIDE his arm mind you. They sell file handles anywhere you can buy a file but don't do that. Find you a hand full of old golf balls. Drill about a 3/16 hole in it and jam the tang of the file into it. Makes the best file handle in the world. No kiddin!

The only other thing I see that your missing is a couple of sharpy markers, masking tape and some vasaline. (and no, thats not a joke)

Already ordered the ergo Nicholson handle for the files. should be here tomorrow. But i like the golf ball idea a lot, and have several golf balls around from practicing for BladeSports.

Thanks for the tips Todd! I have sharpy markers and masking tape, but ill grab some Vaseline. What do i use it for?

And i grabbed all the tools the guy had at the yard sale. Some stuff didnt have prices on it and when i asked how much for all of it he said 20 bucks, but i didnt plan on going to a yard sale and just seen it in passing and only had 18 bucks in my pocket, so i went to put the hammer back and he says just give me what ya got!! I was happy with the deal LOL

Medford knives is hosting a GAW for a grinder. PM me anyone if your interested in a link.

The vasoline used along with the masking tape will ensure you dont get glue on places you dont want it when your putting the knife together. For example, tape the blade. Then put a thin layer of vasoline on the choil area where it will meat the handles. Makes clean up 100 times easier, which in turn makes your fit and finish nicer. Also, since your gonna be a knife maker now. Its always nice to keep some vasoline in the shop to help ease the pain when someone screws you on a deal. :D SNARK!
