I could have sworn I saw T-shirt also. Alas. And, on that note, you have your pictorial proof priorities all screwed up. Depending on age of participants, of course.

Wet t-shirts you say? And there is no photographic documentation? If I were a mod, I'd ban you for life.

You two just assumed all girls in white shirts are wearing T-Shirts. That's... Something-ist!

Besides that going from "noticing" to "taking pictures" is a whole 'nother level of creepy! That is a line I'm not really ready to cross!

Fair 'nuff. But, lets be honest. If you saw "white shirt" and "rain" in the same sentence, where would your mind be going?

Dude, popers look really tastie!! I want some!! Now I have to sneak some bacon home after the kids go to school so I can get my bacon and havarti cheese sammich on!!

Thanks guys for the 16 add-on comments!

Exactly where mine went. So they weren't t-shirts. White + wet = male hindbrain stimulus. I'd still use the ban-hammer out of petulant spite for hinting without delivering.

Out on the floor on page 24!

The maintenance guys came by today to fix the ceiling and clean up the mess. I'm suspicious of their work only because I doubt the damage was only superficial yet the hole was patched up in a few short hours.

So i spent the last couple hours reading about respirators thanks to a message from Crimson.

While searching for the right respirator for me i read about Ed Caffrey needing lung surgery and having to have a part of his lung removed. Also read about Loveless dying of lung cancer. An eye opener to say the least and im very thankful to Crimson for bringing up respirators with me in a PM.

Come to find out my plan of using the full face mask and hospital type breathing mask would do nothing to protect me, and having facial hair can be a problem when it comes to a proper fit for most masks.

Here is a thread on the subject, even showing the scar from Ed's surgery, i urge anyone thinking about grinding metal, CF, Micarta, G10, or even wood to look into this BEFORE spending all your money on tools. I now wish i got the respirator first and waited on a drill press and other odds and ends. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/803642-masks-for-grinding

Glad I brought it up. Safety first!

 Me too bud, thanks again.

I just figured those hospital masks would keep the stuff out that got past the full face shield... Boy was i wrong.

I think this posts says it well in an easy to understand way LOL

Those paper paint masks are about as effective as using a sock for a condom.

Now even though i did think the paper masks would work with the face shield... I would never think of using a sock that way... My last ditch method before marriage was always saran wrap or a bread bag :p :D

So WW, what respirator are you getting? I am avoiding certain materials and trying to work outside most of the time. Eventually I would like to get a nicer grinder and work with other handle materials. So I will pretty much need one anyways.

I really like my lungs and would like to keep them!

Well the 3M 7500 is a decent one from the reading i have done and not too pricey.... The problem is, its hit or miss when it comes to sealing properly if you have any facial hair. 3Ms website says its not to be used by people with beards or other facial hair. I have facial hair and want to keep it. So i kept reading and the only one i found that can work well with even a full beard in a price range i could ever afford is the Resp-o-rator, not too pricey, but with the resp-o-rator you have to breath solely in and out from your mouth. Not sure how i would like doing that for hours every day.

But then i remembered from the pictures i have seen that Todd keeps his facial hair similar to the way i keep mine, so i posted in his subforum asking the type he uses and how it seals. Then Murph being completely AWESOME offered to send me one like Todd uses. Im extremely grateful for that because i was going to have to wait a while to get one since im way over budget already, and had NO plans on trying to grind without a respirator after everything i read tonight. I dont have the option of working outdoors, and my "shop" is in my basement where there is not much air circulation.

I also got some more good advice from Crimson that i plan on doing as well as soon as i get paid again which is to get a box fan or 2, and attach an air filter to the back of it to help collect the dust.

There are some great people around this place thats for certain!!

It's like those memes where they write out a paragraph but skip every fourth letter... you can still read it because in context, your brain fills in the blanks. :p

There are lots of respirators that work fine with facial hair - it just depends on how much and the shape of your jaw and other factors. Full grizzly adams/ZZ Top beard, yeah there's gonna be a real problem. Trimmed van dyke, probably not. The companies that make 'em have to be really careful about promising what works, or they'll end up getting sued.

You just have to try a couple and see what works. When I worked at the paint factory years ago we used full-face respirators and had a guy come in and pressure-test everyone's for fit; a couple guys found they were barely getting a seal at all and had to either trim/shave or get a different model, but most of us by far were well within passing ranges.

There is snark all night long but none when the sun emerges? Is this a group of vampires???

Close enough. I feel out of gas right now. Im about to lay down for a bit. Didnt sleep a wink last night.

Both of these posts are very true. I know of two scope manufacturers (there may be more) that produce scopes in US-run (i.e. QC) factories in China with Chinese labor. The Chinese have apparently bought most of the rare earth mines that source the minerals needed to produce optical-quality glass, so raw Chinese glass is sent to Japan for finishing and coating, then back to China for final assembly to US quality standards. One manufacturer does this for their higher end 30-mm tube scopes (the remainder of their line is the cheaper "Chinese" stuff), and the other does their budget line there (the high end line is manufactured here in the US). Both offer really good scopes for the money (typically $200-$300). Of course the only way I know this is extensive e-mail or phone conversations with distributors and manufacturers. Unless you do careful research, you could wind up with junk. Are these scopes as good as a $1,200 Leupold or $2,400 Schmidt & Bender? Certainly not, but the difference is not particularly noticeable to all but the most demanding of users. I've sold several of the high end Leupolds, and own an S&B that I got in the early '90's at the Rod & Gun Club in Germany for way less than current market price. They high end models are great scopes, but probably not worth the extra coin for most folks. You do score "cool points" though if you have spent more than $1k on glass.

I was trying to decide if you were talking about microscopes or telescopes (astronomy) until I got to the Rod & Gun Club part.

An old trick from scuba diving is to use chapstick or vaseline on the seal if your beard ot mustache are trimmed enough. I'd guess that if it can keep out water at a couple atmospheres, it'd do fine with a respirator that fits properly otherwise.
