A simple and fun knife to make; this keeps my labor costs down and allows me to pass the savings along.

1/8 inch 1095 steel
Satin finish (Approximately 220 grit)
Flat ground
Mustard and gun blue finish
Stabilized maple handles
Overall length: +/- 9 inches
Blade: approximately 4 1/2 inches
Riveted leather scabbard
Both knives are sold.

Well, you know, out here in the Texas hill country, a nice knife is considered a fashion accessory...people will stop you and start a conversation over a nice-looking knife. "Say now, that looks like ole Alvin's work...you know Alvin, usta live over near Twin Sisters, but then he moved out to Boerne last year?"
 
Received the knife today, and it was almost breathtaking how beautifully the sheath and the handle looked like one! Nice work, Gerry, and thanks! Only thing I'm not so sure about is the finish on the spine flat side...looks almost "dirty" or used. I'm sure it's an effect.
 
no, mustard like from the kitchen. The acidity darkens the steel. Same reason people will jab a blade in an apple or potato to help slow down rust.
 
Hello, I am writing from Spain, I am not familiar with all your Knives names, sorry. Can please, somebody explain to me what is the difference between "green river" and "nessmuk" style?

I usually tell my customers that my 1095 knives come with a guarantee: they are going to stain. Tomatos, citrus and other high acid materials will change the color of the blade. That is the reason that I do the mustard process on most of them. It puts a controlled stain on the knife rather than waiting a few months for a natural patina to develop. If you are unhappy with the knife, please return it and I will make a refund or make one for you in stainless (at a higher cost)
