these are two knifes with my homemade mycarta the first is brown canvas the second is green and tan burlap this stuff works like butter I have never work with mycarta before this stuff is bullit proof I enbarked on this because I wanted another challenge and here are the results of doing a little research and just getting after it

Good Job! I followed Ariel Salveria's tutorial for damascus micarta for mine and it came out great too, I've got a chunk of olive and black linen micarta waiting assignment right now

should be but it would be easier to go to his web site and find it their top right hand side you'll see it

Very creative! I love them...

there are so many possibilities if you just open your mind. I plan on making several types just to see how they turn out.

just wait till you feel the need to try a few different ways of laying the burlap up
the layers really do look nice when contoured like that

Do you feel the material through the resin? I mean when you are sanding it and so on, do you have to seal it with anything when you are done? Or does the resin make it completely hard through out? Thanks

It should be a solid block, and you just sand to the desired finish. Burlap comes out nice and grippy when finished fairly rough. I think it is a great choice for a hard use knife.

I tried it and successfully wound up with one gigantic mess! :grumpy: I guess it takes a little time to get the knack of it. Next time, I'm going to make some type of form for it, so the resin stays where it's supposed to, instead of winding up every place except the burlap!

The Denim got me thinking couldnt you go Purchase White Denim at a fabric store and dye it the color/Color's you wanted to do this?

yes
yes you can but i have found the colors are not as bright or deep looking when you dye them at home

you need a form to press the cuttings into
depending on the fabric the size "cut squares" should be different sizes

so far as a form my box that im using now is 6x10 and 8 inch deep soon i will have a 2nd box and im thinking 3x24 by 6 inch deep

Ah Ha! I knew that you needed a form to do it properly!:)

I use either a 5.5" x 8" baking pan or a 6" x 12" mold that I made for the burl stuff. Remember the better quality of resin that you can use the better off you will be. Epoxy is the best and even then try to get as much info on it as you can from the company that makes it.
