Two of the same knives

Joe, how come you find the Cuda Maxx so special? I own a Cuda as well and although it is a fine knife, there are many other that I find at least equally desirable.

Just curious :).

PS I have a large number of doubles och tripples ;)

I wish I still had my MAXX. I've seen them going for $600-$800 on ebay.

I don't double up. I have to set the limit somewhere. A present though, I have two Large Sebenzas and a Small. I once owned three Kershaw Leeks.

i have 2 bm 940s(one blue one green) and a 943 on the way, i also have a caly 3 g-10 with a caly 3 CF on the way

Hmmmm..I see my obsession is not un-normal! I do doubles on almost all of my outdoor gear. Been doing it for years...boots change styles, manufactors dissappear...but in blades..well, somewhere between the 110 bridge and the 84 bridge theres a Busse Badger on the bottom of the most snake infested brown murky water in all of TX..If you find it let me know..at least SOMEBODY will get to use it!!!(but it wont be me!! :))

Hi hiwa -

I generally don't buy more than one unless I am giving them away as gifts.

That said, I did recently buy a "backup" Vic Waiter just in case I lose the one I have had for many years.

I would feel naked without that little knife in my front pocket.

best regards -

I will usually buy a backup of any knife I really like, especially if it's a user. Models go out of production. You may lose it and not have the time to reorder before you want to use it. It's also nice to have an unused copy around just to have as comparison to the user.

The only knife I have more than one of is a Buck 110 and I've got about eight of those.

I am thinking about picking up another Paramilitary just in case I don't like the new version that's supposed to come out next year.

There are knives I have that I would like to have a backup of, or another variation of. But I dont get to buy alot of knives with college, gas, car insurance taking most of my money. So when I do get the money for another knife, I get something I dont have rather than a double.

I buy doubles or triples of knives that are limited and I won't be able to get in the future. I figure I can more than likely get my money or even make a few bucks selling them if I don't like them. Plus my dad will say he likes something and that way I have one if he really likes it. Some of the doubles I don't see myself selling anytime soon because I like the knife and want a back up. The S90V CF Manix 2 and M4 Rift come to mind. I also doubled up on the M4 710 but just can't like the 710 design. I have sold one and looking to sell the other. I would much rather have my Rift in the same steel. I also have a second mini-skirmish even though I haven't carried the first. I think once I tap it for tip up and wave it, it will become a common EDC.

If a knife is a normal production I don't buy a second unless I just come across a really great deal and like the design. This has happened with the Rift (I have 7 now that the M4 variants came out) and the CF ZDP Spyderco Stretch and the CF Caly 3. I got great deals and doubled up and they are great designs that I will always be able to sell for at least what I paid.

I would never chose an edc without being able to get at least two. I figure I will lose one sooner or later.

Guilty, as charged. I have multiples of a bucket full of knives. I usually just want a backup at hand if I loose a knife. At least that is what I tell myself. :o

I also sometimes 'speculate' on certain knives with an eye to re-sale. A good example would be the multiples I have of CPM-D2 Millies and Paras.

I generally have three or more of each knife I own.

One to use, one to lose and one to keep.

Some of my blades I like so much, that I want to buy seconds of them. I have this inert fear , that if I lose one, I won't be able to replace it , even if it's a factory knife. Plus, you can have one in two places at once.

How many of you own doubles of knives , and how do you feel about owning two of the same ?
Some guys own that one, good knife all their lives , and never worry about it , but I like to have back-up.

I buy two or three of the knives or axes I really like and use.

Not so much with knives, but I've noticed that when I lay in doubles of things, they sometimes have a way of being superseded by a better product.

Some of these are gone, but others have taken their place.;) 110's are sort of a thing with me...
