Two questions for people who carry SAKs...

I would like to know the experience of fellow SAK users. I have two questions for you:

(1) In addition to the main blade, which tool in your SAK do you find most useful?

(2) Do you have any interesting/novel uses of the included tools that you would like to share?

Thanks!

1) The bottle opener, it also works as a prybar, flat head screw driver, and a phillips screwdriver.(if you use the corners)

1. The scissors.
2. Not really a novel or smart idea. I was whittling with my old SAK electrician that i just got hair popping sharp. I was getting up for a drink so i decided to stab my knife into the 2x4, well I missed the 2x4 and hit my self an inch under my calf muscle stabbed me pretty deep. The funny thing was I didn't know I stabbed myself until I lifted my knife and blood began squirting everywhere. Immeadiatly I began first aid on (kinda funny seeing a small 13 year old whittling, then stabbing himself, then fixing up the wound) fixed up nicely, but I still have the scar to prove it it's right next to my other cut from one I was chopping up some onion for a sandwhich and the knife slipped ( cheap slippery handled kitchen knife) and put a clean cut right above where I stabbed myself :P.

I have a swiss champ but it sucks!!! It doesn't have tools in the back. Maybe it's the cheap version from walmart. Either way it pisses me off and I want another. A swiss champ, the one with the tools in the back, has a weird hook thingy. Well many use it as a coat hanger. I can't tell you how many times I wish mine had that on it. Beats throwing my coat over the door or on the floor.

The scissors....keep an SAK in your car you never know when you may need those scissors to trim your nails or nose hair (works great for both), clipping coupons, prices off new clothes, etc.
The Saw works well for aggressive cutting off stubborn material.
Tweezers/magnifying glass. They sort of go together to remove splinters, stingers, etc. That's about all their good for....but...damn their good at it.

The can opener works great for peeling oranges. The punch has many good uses, such as starting screw holes in wood, punching holes in cans and bottles, etc.

Actually, I don't use the blade that much. I carry SAKs as a back-up to my other knives and use the other tools a lot more than the blade.

Outdoors my most used tools are the awl and the saw, so I usually pick a Farmer (the awl on the alox models is superb) or a Huntsman to go woodsbumming.

In the city the scissors see quite a bit of action, as do the screwdrivers, so I carry models like the Deluxe Tinker or Climber. I also use Wenger SAKs a lot, their slightly smaller size (85mm instead of 91mm) makes them really pocket friendly.

I carry Farmers, so I would say after the blade I use the Large flat tip screwdriver and then the small screwdriver on the can opener.

On my cadet i can use the tip of the nail file thing to turn a torx screw on some of the pivots of my knifes, prolly not the best for the screw but if you dont have a torx at the moment it works nicely, i use the wide flat head screwdriver as a prybar on occasion as well

1: Small blade, scissors, pliers, screwdrivers and bottlecap opener.

I think the Victorinox can opener is the best of any multi-knife/tool I've used. I keep a sak in the kitchen just for the can opener.

I carry a huntsman, and until I broke it (after 15+ years of use) I used the saw a lot for trim carpentry (rough cut a piece, then plane the ends with the main blade).
since then, it's been the scissors.

I find most useful the scissor, but the magnifier on my Explorer Plus is a close second. With 8 and 12 year old boys, I am always looking for splinters, assembling small parts on toys, etc. I have tried to go without EDC-ing a SAK, but find it too useful to leave behind.

Scissors, Cybertool and can opener has been my most used feature in my Cybertool 34 which I have been EDC'ing for a month.
