I have been grinding on a two wheel grinder for the past 20 plus years and do just fine on it but I am thinking that I would like a three wheel grinder just for the option of putting a grinding rest on it. I think that the extra support will help me out as I am getting older.
Oh, I will make myself a work rest table. the same as no-weld-grinder knife rest. Telescopic construction, so I can adjust it to the flat platen or to the wheel. it is just 4 inches from the center of the wheel to the lower end of the platen.
The tracking pulley is from palete transporter. Small ones on the forks. Hard rubber - it holds 2 tons of preasure with two bearings installed inside, and you can easly make it bumpy in the middle by holding the wheel with bearings on a shaft and grinding while it's spining.
Now I have aluminium wheel, and the palete transporter wheel is spare part. You can use those wheels for flat platten attachment for three wheel grinders. I will make pictures soon of the details.
Cool idea! I thought about doing that in my grinder plans, but it was just too confusing to try to do that at the beginning. Plus, there's always upgrading later.
180mm diameter. I can glue wet/dry sandpaper for finishing solutions. It is great for finishing flats. I am think to glue velcro disc for using sandpaper with fuzzy backing. Someone uses velcro on disc sanders? They uses those for angle grinder rubber finishing discs. A lot faster to change grits.
