Here is an 18 inch, 1 lb., 7 oz. Sirupati made and marked by Bura. Not surprisingly, I can find nothing wrong with this khukuri. Fit and finish are what you would expect from the old master and he has the blade hardened up to 58 or 59 Rc in the chopping area and tapering off toward tip and bolster. Nice scrollwork and brass inlay. He has the HI habaki bolster on it and the horn handle has some nice gray streaking in it. It's a 10/10 effort.

The karda and chakma are well done with chakma having a distinctive Bura flair to it.

Scabbard is made and tooled by the sarki with no name. You can actually see a little of the tooling in the picture for a change. It was an accident. My photography skills are not improving. The frog is the 100 year HI superfrog.

We will deliver this excellent Sirupati to your door today for $95.

Call or email if interested.

Who got it?
*&^# Steven F. has more khuks than Carter has liver pills!

No, Mike, I didn't get it. Harry got it -- and by the way, he has a far nicer khuk collection than I do. Just check out the recent kothimoda thread to see what I mean. In my next life I think I may want to come back as Harry.

C'mon Steven, everybody knows your house is sinking from the weight of all that steel!

Mike, to be perfectly honest, I don't know how many I own. I've got'em hidden all over the place. I'm kinda like a squirrel hording acorns -- I hide'em everywhere but don't remember all the exact hiding places. Years after I'm dead and gone, my family will still be finding khukuris. If my wife had any idea of the extent of my addiction she'd probably either leave me or tell me to do what other old guys do: get a girlfriend -- it would be a lot cheaper and more normal.

But, just out of curiousity, one of these days when my wife is off visiting for a weekend I am gonna have to try to drag them all out just to see how many I do have. And I'll let you know.

Uncle--just how old is "the old master" anyway? I didn't think Bura looked all that old in the pix you've shown.
And Steven F.: I'm awfully glad you've come clean about your pack rat khuk-stowing mentality. I'm the same way. I was beginning to wonder if my behavior was "odd," but now I am reassured it's not. I recall James Mattis sharing his mantra: Please don't let my wife see them all at once, Please don't let my wife see them all at once... I don't have very many, really, yet I seem to be running out of storage spots. -- Jance

Jance, ol' buddy, I don't know how to break this to you gently, but I think you oughta know that just because we both do the same thing doesn't make us normal -- it just means that we're both weird! And, I suspect, there are more than just a few other forumites just as weird as we are! But, anyway, I'm proud to consider you a kindred spirit and to have company.

Jim, you really seem like a nice guy and genuinely concerned about Vince's HIKV. Perhaps we should consider some kind of 12-step program like AA for HIKV types. The only problem is, I don't know of any HIKV sufferers who want to be cured (myself included). Personally, I don't want to be cured, I would just like to have more money to better support my affliction -- now is that sad or what!?

Weird? Us? Nonsense, Steven. I ask you, what's 'weird' about a wish to avoid unsightly clutter? Are we not merely doing our part around the house?

Of course, this begs the question of why we're amassing these khukuris in the first place. In my own case, I've evolved a complex gift-giving plan for a growing number of friends and relatives. I'm merely storing their presents until the proper time arrives.

I must confess, though, I was taken aback when last week during a visit by my 76-year-old mom, I tried to present her with a khuk I'd earmarked as hers, only to be met with her resolute refusal to accept it. I just don't understand people sometimes.

Well I don't know about everyone else but it's obvious to me that it is too late to save Jance. Sorry Jance, it's terminal. How long have you had these symptoms?

One day I layed all mine out and Barb said, "But where's MINE?!?!?!?", so I had to go get her two as well. (VBESEG)

I made a list for Raven a while back and missed 2 0r 3 because I had them
