UBDOTD 10-11. 18" Sirupati by the old master. Pix and bargain.

That's right, Bill. The graph plotting my khukuri acquisitions took a steep climb this summer when I was in the neighborhood and so dropped by Uncle Bill's Cantina to pick up my new Bura Banspati.

Was it the experience of a face-to-face encounter with the khukuri meister himself that brought on this change? Or was it my first handling of the banspati that day in Reno, a khukuri I'm so fond of I keep it on my desk a mere few inches from these flying fingers--and sometimes find myself talking to it? Probably both. Seeing a 40 or 50-lb shipment of khukuris get opened up and piled out on the deck that serves as the backdrop for those famous Uncle Bill pix of deals-of-the-day was also memorable, perhaps transforming.
 
Jance, I can relate to your thoughts regarding khukuri addiction and "gift giving" -- especially when you mentioned your 76-year-old mom. We addicts like to pretend that we're actually getting the khuks as gifts for someone else, to be presented to them at a later date (say, within the next 100 years). Personally, I knew I was in trouble when I tried to convince my wife that I was buying the last khukuri for the family cocker spaniel.

Steven F--we're on the same wavelength, you and I. Only today while running with one of our dogs did this thought occurr to me: the special project khukuri Dave K. recently proposed might fit nicely into the doggie saddlebags our dogs wear on hikes.
 
And Jance, I'm thinking that my goldfish are in need of a small villager! After all, they're in an outdoor pond and are subject to all kinds of hardships!

Seriously, this was one khukuri that started talking to me..."Harry, buy me...Harry, buy me...." I could not get the words out of my head. A Sirupati in this length is IMO, about optimal for this styling. And Bura makes a good Sirupati.

Jim, as for incurable HIKV, yes, I am a khukuri addict(as are you!). But can you admit that you have it too?
