UBDOTD! Remember is it a blem? I have the twin by Sanu and it's no blem. Pix.

Maa-syaa-Allaah! That's life!

Remember Allah (or whatever names you like to call Him)! He is the most forgiving!

In Arabic MAN is called as NAS derived from word NASIA which means "forgetful" --- yes, sometimes we just forgotten about our real self --- that we are just His creation --- His slave --- we plan and He decide --- we have to accept the outcome of His decision --- good or bad is just our own judgement --- in fact whatever happend is His decision --- and His decision is perfect --- there is plenty of explanations behind His decision --- the fact is that sometimes we are just to naive to understand His decision!

Pakcik Bill --- you are just human being like me and others!

NEPAL HO!

Bill Oji-chan! Sorry to hear about the incident and hope that Yangdu recovers soon.

While we're all confessing here, I have a bad temper as well, so I kind of understand how these things happen. Between my sister and I we have kicked through and broken every door in my old house. I've mellowed out some since I've grown up, but at the ripe old age of 23 I still find myself slipping up sometimes and doing things I'll regret later.

Like I said in a previous post, khukuris are very nice for getting rid of excess aggression. I think we can all agree though: just don't do it on concrete next time!

Take care, Oji-chan!

P.S.
Actually I think horn handles are prettier than wood ones anyway, so this all works out quite nicely for me, I can't wait to see what you've sent me!

What's this? I came back after 2 days and I hear Uncle's been doing destructive testing w/ a sirupati. I hope my cousin hasnt started a trend...

On a more serious note, I hope that everything is peaceful and calm now in your neighborhood Uncle Bill, and that your spouse undergoes a speedy recovery ^_^

Btw I for one am not appreciative of this Labor day... it's making me wait an extra day to go to the post office and pick up my new khukuri. :-/

Anyway, to quote Bob Marle:

"Dont worry, Be happy"

Brother Mohd, I was sure you'd be along to bathe Uncle's ego in loving-kindness.

Many thanks, all. Yangdu, Chokpa and I went to "Two Guys from Hong Kong," cafe last night, had some beer, wine and Chinese food and we are all fine today.

I inspected the knife and it is a total loss. I put maybe a 1/2 inch bend in the blade and a hairline crack in the handle. It cannot be saved but I view it as not a total loss and here is why.

This Sirupati was one of the first "thin" blades to come in -- not our normal prybar Sirupati. I have just finished rehab and the staff rated me as "upper extremities extremely strong" because I was lifting weights three days and week and doing some stuff at home, too. Of course, the lower body was kaput due to back problem. But what this means is a 190 pounder who is rated "extremely strong" by St. Mary's rehab staff gave that 20 inch sirupati a full force LATERAL blow, adrenalin fed due to anger, against concrete and the knife bend 1/2 inch and lost 1/2 inch off the point. This gives us a good idea of what the knife will do. I think if I had hit the knife edge down rather than lateral it would never have been and I may not have lost the point but some edge instead.

It is an ill wind that blows no good. For a 1/4 inch thick Sirupati this one did just fine.

Sorry to hear about the khuk being a total loss -- I was looking forward to having a Yvsa-worked blade. But, as you said, Uncle Bill, you learned something of value from the incident which goes to show that good often comes from bad -- the ol' silver lining theory.

Hi Bill. I'm back from The Netherlands and full of advice. 1) the knife doesn't matter 2) your wife knows you well enough to put an aberration like this into perspective 3)having met the recently arrived Chokpa and been impressed by her deep shyness, she's the person I'd be most concerned for. She seems like somebody who could get spooked by something like this. I'll bet you'll want to go to lengths to make sure it doesn't undermine her confidence in you. 4) you're the last person who ought to have cigarettes in the house. Toss em, even if they're a souvenir of Nepal. If you start smoking in times of emotional distress, you risk undoing all your hard work, not to mention the countless cubic feet of ice chips you've chewed up.--Jance

Chokpa is quite the lady.... and so is Yangdu for that matter....You are most fortunate to have them around as well as Vikash...
