the BK9 will win ;)

because it will CHEAT :>

Left the cesspool that in Vancouver BC and drove West up the Sea to Sky highway. Pissing rain. Torrents.

However it cleared as i got further out the scummy city. So much so that the sun dried the road.

Ripped up the 99 at about 100 kms an hour, following the twisty curvy road. Stopped at the famous LIONS BAY CAFE & General Store and fueled up. Coffee, cheese, crackers, sausage.

Lets Roll to the UCC!!!!!

took the exit ramp to DEEKS CREEK at 130 KM hour, dropped the shifter from 5th to 4th to 3rd to 2nd to 1st and gunned it up the steep gravel road, scaring the HEYWHOOPSHAHAHA out of some hikers. ripped up the access road and pulled off into my favorite knife testing grounds.

LETS ROLL! THE UCC IS ABOUT TO START!

Next up the UCC cage match, the chopping fight!

Junglas 20 chops
IMG_1629.jpg

Becker 9 22 chops
IMG_1630.jpg

Solingen Bowie 38 chops
IMG_1631.jpg

SOD 30 chops
IMG_1633.jpg

WINNER IS JUNGLAS! 2nd place Becker9 third place SOD, 4th place Solingen!

the Junglas has weight behind it, and although a thick blade, effortlessly chops thru green wood. The Becker 9 is thinner, and has a deeper penetration, but binds in the cut. Yet the Becker 9 is lighter and faster in hand than the Junglas.......

Next up is the standing tree cut down

Junglas 8 chops

Becker 9 10 chops

So, all in all, one hell of a day! got to spend time OUT of the High Frequency Range (rat race) and got to chill with well made blades, food and wilderness.

Sooo whos the winner of the UCC?

NO ONE.

we cannot compare blades that are different in design and expect certain results. They ALL perform well, within limits as per their design.

The moral of the UCC is: carry many knives.

nuff said.

freaking awesome Sunday, i feel like a million bucks right now.

my thoughts on the BK9? it BITES deep, is light and fast in the hand, excels in the kitchen AND the woods.

The Junglas is a true heavyweight, it takes little effort to bed it deep into a softwood trunk. Its LONGER, so it has an advantage over the BK9 in that it require less effort to chop. HOWEVER the BK9 is FAST in hand .......

hmmmmmm\\

no winners today. Evey one rocked.

I wondered how the edge profile vs. weight/length would work out on the 9/Junglas. Thanks.

Great thread  I really enjoyed the photos ! :)
The Junglas looks like a real beast, the BK-9 is very handsome too. One of them will be my next choper. As for now my only big choper is the CS San Mai Trailmaster and I've come to really appreciate the big knives.

sweet test. that's exactly what i've found in my first hand experience as well regarding the junglas vs. bk-9: the junglas is a way better wood chopper than the bk-9...albeit at a much higher price.

bring the thunderdome...err, kitchen tasks indoors and i prefer the bk-9 for such duties. butchering a whole pig or cow (my dad absolutely loves to cook and i help out during holiday festivities even though there's only 4 of us plus my uncle and grandma close-by to eat a whole pig, etc ) and the bk-9 feels way better to me than the junglas.

this review clearly shows my similar views...beckerheads aren't flavor-of-the-month fanboys. a lot of us buy esee knives and other brands as well. we're not blinded by brand loyalties above all else...we chose becker knives because it's the best knife for our intended purpose...and there's quite a bit of those knives satisfying our wants and needs i might add

edit: bk-9 vs. junglas? i'll take the junglas any day. that's what's good about being a beckerhead, we're not fanboys.

That looks like alot of fun! They look to be both worthy knives.
What is the knife with the curved blade that looks like a rambo 4?

Great pics ! Makes me wish I was there , or maybe having the tools , time and location to do my own version of the chopping combat .
Just a question : Can you take down trees as much as you like ? Here in Israel this is strictly illegal (for many reasons) unless you have a special permit . If a ranger will catch you chopping trees without a reason and a permit , be prepared to say farewell to many Shekels (our local currency) .
