Uh Oh ! my knife went through the washer

Any shrinkage though? :D 🙃 😃
I wish, that would be cool if the knife got smaller.

Honestly my biggest worry was that the tumbling could have resulted in Cracked covers, but I guess the cloths probably provided enough cushioning to prevent that.

I usually carry my SAK Classic in my watch pocket & it's been through the wash quite a few times.
As has my rambler, it even got wedged under the agitator and scuffed the snot out of the cellidor. It's wearing g10 scales now (not because they were scuffed by the washer, just because I wanted those scales).

One thing I really like about case is that they use stainless springs even on their carbon knives... I've found it difficult to prevent carbon springs from getting rusted even if I don't put it through the wash.

Should have posted a pic of a Peanut for the "after" shot. 😆

Just meant to be funny (Peanut pen blade on same end as main).

I've put quite a few through the washer lol. The only ones that I really worry about are those with wood covers. But so far none have really suffered anything other that a bit of light rust.

I've had a number of Alox SAKs go through the washer. Seems to clean them up all nice and shiny.

Only thing wrong with that Case in the first post is that those blades could use some sharpening.

that fared a lot better than I thought it would. Suppose in terms of all the knives available out there, saks might be the most resilient in terms of going through a washing machine cycle. wonder how a gec would fare with its 1095 steel

The main blade is the same size.
If the nail nick was in the same position the peanut could easily be my favorite case model.

As is the knife is actually pretty sharp.
If it looks like there are Knicks in the edge, those were rust spots.

HT should be fine, a washing machine doesn't get that hot.

Been there, done that, thankfully with micarta scales

There's not to worry about the heat treat. The annealing temperature of the steel is about 1400 °F. A washing machine doesn't reach the temperature of 200°F.

Duh. My entire post was (I thought obvious) sarcasm. I guess I should’ve put a disclaimer. I guess it was a poor attempt at humor.

Lol, that was sarcasm just in case you thought I was serious… I’ve had just about every folder I own go through the washer a time or two and none have ever been any worse for wear.
No I got it.
Now if it had gone through the dryer I might have suspected you of being serious.
One time the button on a pair of jeans actually got hot enough to burn me slightly.

Meh, still zero worries of it hurting the heat treat. Your knife will be fine even if it goes through the whole cycle and your pants get folded and put away.

Happened with my 3 rivet Otter Messer just a few days ago. She’s fine and in my pocket right now. Same pants too, lol.

An excellent time saving idea... Clean pants, clean knife, and you don't even need to worry about whether you dropped one in your pocket.

I've had a couple of knives go through the washing machine. The only damage I've ever seen is that the shield on a little acrylic Rough Ryder fell out in the washing machine. I've never put any knives through the dryer; mine all say on the tag "Lay Flat to Dry". 🤓

Hard for me to get too worried about knives in the washing machine (other than the tumbling), since almost all of my knives have been in my pocket during downpours and get totally soaked that way with no long-term effects.

Sorry, I went through it and didn't understand. In my defense, I happened to read even more fanciful assertions on the subject and which were exposed with the greatest seriousness.
