<<<<finally arrived after 40 days>>>>>
Any experience in shipping to the UK. Knife shipped Aug. 7, and not there yet. Standard shipping, and not Global express. When should I expect it will arrive, if ever. Sent as a gift, $50. value, Collectable cutlery as requested by trader from UK. The guy I traded with is pretty worried, and so am I.
Any personal experiences, of your pass experience would be greatly appreciated.

It could take a very long time if it went by ship - several weeks. You need to ship overseas by global priority (air) if you expect things as quickly as you seem to expect it. It could be tied up in customs at that end but there is no way to find that out at your end without a customs agent or shipping via private carrier. I suspect it's still enroute. I can tell you Her Majesty's postal service is excellent - better than ours by a bunch. Take care.

Global Priority or Global Express usually under 10 days door to door. I had one package that never made it to the customers house....rolled back to New Graham 8 (yeah, eight) months after we shipped it. Package beat up, opened in customs (no big deal, a Case slipjoint)...repackaged, but marked as undeliverable...addressee not found...Knife was just fine when it came back home. Give it time. Postal workers are as honest a bunch as you can find.

The interval from the US for standard airmail parcel is 2-3 weeks. Everything is probably fine; just give it a little more time.

I'm also wondering if it would of been put on a ship, rather than by air on standard mail.

Thanks for you info. guys.

Got a package from Canada by boat once. Took exactly 6 weeks. Could be the same senario in your case!! I´m sure it´ll get there :)

Hi Guys
I usually have goods from the US to New Zealand in under 14 days, sometimes less than 5. The Brits do like to mess about sometimes though.
Phil

The mail usually gets there in a day or two... they usually stick it on a commercial flight and whap!, it's sitting in Heathrow or someplace... what happens is that even if customs don't open it up and inspect it, it sits in a room till someone looks at the customs declaration, along with a few hundred other boxes before it's released to the postal service... after that, it takes as long as the postal service takes normally. If Customs wants to scrutinize your package, all bets are off as to how long you're gonna have to wait.

I am shipping an Edmund Davidson today to the UK.
I will not do it again!!!!!!!!!!!
There are 2 reasons why:

1. He has to take my word for it, that I shipped it.
2. I have to take his word, whether or not he received it!

No tracking available.
Never again. :grumpy:

That was a concern the first time I did international trades, I don't know if I have just dealt with good guys but I have never had a problem. I have had one knife lost in the post, one of the nicest guys I have traded with "SethMurdoc" sent me a BM-e and a NICK and I sent him my desert mofo and leatherman sheath. The BM-e and NICK arrived but the mofo never showed. I think the knife community is too small and once someone screws someone else over everyone will hear about it.

Keep smiling bro !!

27 days and counting. Brendan glad your checking in on my thread. Thought about putting a thread with a picture of the dagger as being stolen. Might be jumping the gun on that. Probably be better to wait to see if someone tries to trade or sell it on the Forum, but not likely, and the crook will probably just pawn it or sell it to some unsuspecting joe blow if it indeed is stolen.
Did you get my last email recently?

If they meant standard shipping as the cheapest way to send it I wouldn't concider it gone yet.May take as long as 2 or 3 months.

Hi Guys
This is a real shame, it's hard enough to persuade some of you guys to send internationally without things going wrong. I ask for everything to be sent Global Priority and have yet to have aproblem to New Zealand. Even had a Kukhri come all the way here and go all the way back to Uncle Bill due to incorrect addressing, it still got there safely. I always purchase items that are LEGAL here and have the parcels labeled accurately. Shame of it is that you guys in the US have so many choices of excellent knives, but there are very few enthusiasts in NZwho will pay the stupid prices asked by local distributors, ($300+ for a Spyderco Police)hence my attempts to use the forums.
Regards
Phil :p

I do not mind at all shipping overseas but global priority is the only way to go no matter what the guys at the PO says.

Yes, the USPS Global Priority Flat-Rate envelopes are the best!
Recently, a friend here helped me out with some stuff. He send three envelopes, on monday, tuesday and wednesday. They arrived on thursday, friday and saturday. Gotta love that for $5 for a small one and $9 for a large one!
